Job Purpose

Your primary role will be in supporting the Finance Business Partners in assisting with insight and analytics to ensure clear communication of financial performance, risks and opportunities. Supporting and challenging the financial priorities of your business area to support the decisions that deliver strong financial performance. You will engage with stakeholders to understand best practice and to influence decision makers. You will actively contribute to your business area to help drive commercial and non-financial performance related decisions. You will support the management of financial risks and the implementation & maintenance of controls. You will support the long-term business & financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes to drive performance.

This role partners with the Digital Technology and Infrastructure Technology (DTIT) team for National Grid, working closely with a wide variety of stakeholders in IT, the businesses, and finance teams. By working collaboratively with these business partners, you will ensure that performance is well understood, performance gaps are identified, and opportunities are achieved to drive business performance.


Key Accountabilities

  • This is a key supporting role where you must ensure you have a fundamental understanding of finance and are able to present them in a clear and consumable manner to non-financial stakeholders. An ability to work collaboratively with business partners and other areas of finance and to constructively challenge will be valued.
  • IT is a rapidly changing environment – the ability to quickly understand these changes and identify the opportunities is a critical skill for the role.
  • You will have strong analytical skills, able to use data to tell a story and have a deep understanding of excel and able to use financial systems to produce performance indicators and design relevant KPIs.
  • You will have strong communication skills with proven ability to adapt the style of financial information presentation to suit a range of stakeholders, both financial and non-financial. You will be able to make linkages between financial and operational performance clear – driving change to optimise both outcomes.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated partnering experience to act as a trusted advisor using strategic insight to deliver tangible performance improvements.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence and impact the decisions and financial performance of senior stakeholders and their teams throughout the relevant business area.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills – proven track record in managing conflicting stakeholder interests.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills with an ability to identify key issues and recommend solutions to complex problems using data, logic and financial insight.
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty and adopt a flexible approach to effectively help manage and drive all types of planned and unplanned change that improve support to the business.
  • Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS Accounting principles and strong financial controls skills preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred with a minimum 3 years of progressive growth in business support roles.

$92k – $119k a year, NYC

$85k – $110k a year, Boston

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
