Job Purpose
National Grid IT team is currently seeking an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented Test Data & Environment Engineer within NG Data Virtualization team. This role will be responsible for Maintaining, building & implementing Test Data strategy & help architecting solutions as well per standards that are consistent across NG application ecosystem. You will collaborate with the business teams, Platform Engineering, Group Data & Analytics, IT Strategy, EPMO, CIO & other Engineering teams to deliver business outcomes. This role will own suite of automated data provisioning framework that empower businesses to deliver meaningful and personalized experiences to their customers in real time and at scale, while allowing us to lower integration costs with other applications, supporting key decisions and optimizing the customer experience. The engineer will incorporate digital delivery centric best in class product planning practices.
Key Accountabilities
- Enable development & testing team with reusable test data solutions
- Ability to implement data democracy or self serve solutions for Dev/test teams
- Support near real time masked data in lower environments in automated way without impacting Production
- Experience of working in and integrating non-functional automation into a Continuous Integration
- environment, using tools like Git, Bitbucket Azure and Jenkins
- Mentor & lead NG or Vendor team technically to resolve issues
- Architecting solution designs which are reusable & establish patterns
- Working knowledge of database technical stacks such as Oracle/MS SQL Server/ DB2 etc
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Ability to lead technology on large projects spanning multiple teams
- Leads hiring initiatives, assembling new questions, coordinating on changes to hiring practices and process
- Acts as a conduit for technical knowledge throughout the org, bringing company-wide tech info into their org
- Leads the vision for what we communicate with our documentation
- Active participant in org-wide meetings and leading when the topic is the teams’ work
- Presents to others on technical topics of interest, fostering growth in knowledge at NG
Qualifications
- Experience is formulating test data management solutions
- Experience with ETL processes in creating custom data sets from different sources
- Experience in facilitating Data for microservices implementations
- Experience in fabricating data using sql and/or scripts
- Knowledge of build tools and continuous integration using ANT, Bitbucket, Maven, Jenkins, Sonar, etc.
- Passionate about code quality and advocate of clean code principles
- Ability to spin up environments using kubernetes/openshift, AWS/Azure, Docker and manage using Ansible, Rundeck, Chef etc. including data refresh/setup using tools like Delphix
- 7-to-8 year experience in data administration
- Experience with both Sql and NoSql databases
- Extensive experience with data refreshes, data backups and restoration, bulk data migrations and database bound application deployments
- Experience in Data Profiling, cleansing, subsetting and validation
- Experience in Data Masking & Synthetic data generation
- Experience in Network and Systems administration

Salary
$133,000 – $175,000 a year
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
