The Data, Analysis and Visualization group in NREL’s Computational Science Center has an immediate opening for a Visualization Scientist to develop and execute a cross-disciplinary research portfolio in scientific visualization with an emphasis in visual analytics and knowledge discovery in large-scale computational data.
The successful candidate will research cutting-edge visualization techniques, support cross-disciplinary researchers with visualizing complex data, and build the visualization research portfolio at NREL.
The candidate will evaluate and communicate results through written research reports for publication and presentation at seminars, will participate in group meetings and seminars, and will assist in developing grant proposals for new research directions.
Relevant PhD and 4 or more years of experience . Or, relevant Master’s Degree and 7 or more years of experience . Or, relevant Bachelor’s Degree and 9 or more years of experience . Applies extensive scientific technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Considered a technical resource. Demonstrates leadership in several areas of team, task or project lead responsibilities. Demonstrated experience in management of projects. Excellent technical writing, interpersonal and communication skills.
The candidate will bring experience in scientific visualization, including a working understanding of visual analytics, human-computer interaction, and high-dimensional data visualization techniques. The candidate should be willing to work in an interdisciplinary field, together with computer scientists, policy analysts, and engineers. The candidate will possess strong programming and algorithm developments skills and have programming experience in one or more HPC programming languages (i.e., Python, C++). In addition, the ideal candidate will be fluent in modern OpenGL programming.

Job Profile: Researcher IV / Annual Salary Range: $90,600 – $163,100
