Help build Data Web Applications that power the Growth, GTM, Product, and Sales teams at NewRelic. We seek a Senior Data Engineer who is passionate about building web-based data products that will enable the entire company to consume practical insights.
We are a fast-growing Data Engineering & Technology team building an “internal-facing data product” with a bold, ambitious vision to build the core data foundation needed to run a successful consumption business! We build core data products, promote data-driven culture, democratize insights through self-service, and establish a single source of truth in business and customer metrics.
Opportunity to work from a remote office may be available depending on applicant location.
What you’ll do
- Build end-to-end data engineering pipelines (data ingestion, transformation, and data modeling), both batch and real-time streaming and distributed processing back-ends
- Work on Data Warehouse system architecture and ingesting/pipelining of data, and tools to automate and orchestrate in delivering performance, reliability, and operational efficiency
- Work closely with Analytic Engineers and Data Analysts for the collection/analysis of raw data for models that empower end users.
- Build and scale our warehouse platform for data ingest, logging, search, aggregation, viewing, and analysis
- Routinely write efficient, legible, and well-commented Python
- Clear communication skills to deliver complex, technical topics
- Apply principles of SDLC in data engineering workflows (CICD, testing, code reusability, monitoring & alerting)
- Work closely with Analytic Engineers and Data Analysts for the collection/analysis of raw data for models that empower end users
This role requires
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, or a combination of education and related experience required
- 4+ years of professional experience working and developing using Python
- 4+ years of professional experience working with Python scripting experience (Unix, bash, python)
- 4 + years of experience designing and developing data integration solutions using Dbt.
- 2+ years of experience with cloud data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake, etc.)
- Attention to detail and consistency of implementation
- Experience with modern data technologies
- Knowledge/Experience working with Kubernetes
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools
- Experience with dbt, Airflow
- Experience with Snowflake
Bonus points if you have
- Terraform or other IaC Tools
- Experience with Astronomer
- Experience with Streaming Data Apache Beam, Fink, and Kafka
- Knowledge of source control, CI/CD
- Working in a Linux environment
- Ability to clearly communicate and document work
- Detailed understanding of code testing methodologies
