Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy is seeking an experienced individual to join their Power Generation Division (PGD) team supporting our Enterprise Asset Management Applications. NextEra Energy, Inc. is one of the largest and highest-performing power generation companies in the nation and their PGD team is responsible for a diverse generation portfolio of over 55 GW.
The selected candidate will be part of the Asset Management Applications team responsible for managing the technical requirements of NextEra Energy’s Enterprise Asset Management Software (Maximo) and its interfaces to other corporate systems required to efficiently execute core business processes. Performs applications system setup, interface design and development support, and related database designs and scripting. Manages the functional and technical support of these systems for across NextEra Energy’s businesses. Manages enterprise upgrades and system implementation projects with the goal of business process improvement.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, And Skills
- Manages Implementation, monitoring, maintenance, development, testing, upgrade, and support of the assigned NextEra Energy’s enterprise asset management applications
- Provides functional and technical consultation and support to NextEra Energy’s business and vendors
- Serves as the Business Relationship Manager (BRM) for the assigned business departments to collect and document relevant business process objectives, conduct feasibility study/impact assessment in respect of implementing business requirements
- Authors and maintains applications documentation, provides training to technology and business staff as needed
- Assists other departments over the software development lifecycle in support of analytics, dashboards, web applications and workflows across the enterprise
- Leads implementation schedules to ensure timely project completion
- Provides support and training to user personnel based on completed IT projects and initiatives
- Manages and produces/maintains enterprise-wide application communications and documentation
- Oversees modifications to existing applications as necessary based on project requirements. Follows established standards for the design, coding, and testing of software
- Creates test plans, test files, and scripts for unit testing, integration testing. Works with users to validate system testing and conformity with functional requirements.
- Follows appropriate change management and implementation procedures. Ensures that appropriate technical and functional documentation is prepared. Coordinates the implementation process
- Provides technical troubleshooting and coordinates support with internal and external stakeholders. Provides support to new applications during and after implementation
- Collaborates with IT partners to drive software environment, application, and client upgrades and patch installations
- Continually keeps abreast of technical skills to support new software requirements and research various aspects of tools and software for enterprise implementation.
- Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external stakeholders. Gets first-hand stakeholder information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with stakeholders in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with stakeholders and gains their trust and respect.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering
- Experience: 5+ years related experience in project management, business analysis, or engineering to include three (3) years of experience working with Maximo or other enterprise asset management applications
- Proficiency of PC software applications to include Microsoft Office or other related software applications
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with the public, coworkers, and management
- Must be able to work variable hours, to include emergency response to system outages
- Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to complex interpersonal, technical, and administrative problems
Preferred Qualifications
- Quality Certification – Green Belt Certification
- Experience with Agile project management processes and tools
- Experience with common coding languages such as JavaScript, Python, and R
- Proficient in database query building in SQL, Maximo, and industry database tools
- Knowledge of budget development/analysis, and operational cost factors
- Ability to travel to sites throughout the U.S. as needed, <10%

- Provides full-time technical support to the operations and business unit personnel
- Performs system testing and documentation to critical systems during significant changes and/or upgrade
- Analyzes and identifies the root cause of – and implements comprehensive technical solutions to – complex application deficiencies and system issues
- Provides technical leadership in the functional specification, design, and implementation of new (as well as enhancements to existing) security center applications and tools
- Develops new (and improves existing) processes with goal of increasing productivity, reducing risk of system failure, promoting efficiency in work flow, and meeting or exceeding the key operational performance targets
- Establishes, documents, and maintains procedures and guidelines related to the day-to-day operational support provided to the operations and business unit personnel
- Travels to power plants for onsite troubleshooting support
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
