What will you work on
As a Lead Data Engineer for Global Sustainability Data & Analytics, you will be responsible for technical direction and drive work to completion with hands-on development responsibilities, as well as help build a culture of collaboration where every voice is heard. In this role, you will:
- Design and build reusable components, frameworks and libraries at scale to support analytics products
- Design and implement product features in collaboration with business and Technology collaborators
- Anticipate, identify and solve issues concerning data management to improve data quality
- Clean, prepare and optimize data at scale for ingestion and consumption
- Drive the design and implementation of new data products, demonstrating scalable design and development practices
- Implement sophisticated automated workflows and routines using workflow scheduling tools
- Build continuous integration, test-driven development and production deployment frameworks
- Drive collaborative reviews of design, code, test plans and dataset implementation performed by other data engineers in support of maintaining data engineering standards
- Analyze and profile data for the purpose of designing scalable solutions
- Solve sophisticated data issues and perform root cause analysis to proactively resolve product and operational issues
- Mentor and develop other data engineers in adopting best practices
- Serve as a technology thought leader to implement improvements and innovations
Who will you work with
In this role you will be part of an agile product team, closely partnering with the Product Manager to deliver data and analytics capabilities to Nike’s Sustainability organization. You will collaboratively partner with business collaborators, as well as other technology solution delivery, architecture, and platform teams.
What you bring
Some combination of these qualifications and technical skills will position you well for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
- demonstrated ability with large-scale data engineering with emphasis on analytics and reporting
- Advanced experience building cloud scalable, real time and high-performance data lake solutions
- Expert with relational SQL
- Expert with Python—experience authoring distributable packages (packages which can be built, installed, and distributed using setuptools, pip, and twine)
- Experience planning and implementing the design and development of web APIs using a modern python ASGI framework
- Experience developing and performance tuning in Apache Spark
- Experience with working with data pipeline orchestration systems such as Airflow
- Experience with file formats including JSON, Parquet, and Avro
- Experience developing solution within AWS Services framework (EMR, EC2, RDS, Lambda, etc.)
- Experience with trunk-based development (feature branching) using git for version control, with fully automated deployments (CI/CD)
- Understanding of micro service architecture
- Experience working on end-to-end solution design
- Able to lead others in solving complex problems by taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Strong understanding of solution and technical design
- Has a strong problem solving and analytical approach
- Able to influence and communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with team members and business collaborators
- Able to quickly pick up new programming languages, technologies, and frameworks
Open to remote work, except cannot work in South Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia. These candidates will be required to relocate.
