We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Principal Data Scientist who is excited to cultivate and serve a dedicated sneakerhead community. WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON
The SNKRS Principal Data Scientist will optimize and personalize sneaker launch draws and exclusive access, develop foundational predictions for merchandising and inventory decisions, and lead personalization of the SNKRS experience. You will lead efforts to understand user response to drive strategic goals rather than easy to capture real time measures. You will synthesize findings to help guide digital and physical product decisions, influencing product roadmaps and strategic direction. You will be a strategic partner in production vision and prioritization.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH
You will be the technical leader of experience personalization efforts in the activity space, reporting to the Senior Director of SNKRS and Sport Activity Data Science. You will partner with analysts, experts in causal inference, the product team, launch team, community partners, physical and digital designers, marketers, strategists, and product and platform engineers to deploy models, evolve the experience, foster and build the sneakerhead community, and grow and mentor the team.
SNKRS Data Science is part os Nike’s Consumer Data Science function. So in addition to working with the SNKRS team, you will be a leader in a 100+ strong and growing data science and ML team. You will participate in our data science labs, study groups, and team activities to lead and mentor the team and foster a positive team culture.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher or in computer science, statistics, applied math, or other quantitative discipline or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
- Expertise in and ability to implement and innovate on state-of-the art machine learning, especially ranking and deep learning
- Experience with Python and deep learning in libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Expert knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and distributed computing, both for data and optimization
- Experience leading projects and project teams from problem formulation through delivery, driving advancement towards strategic goals
- Expert understanding of the architecture of consumer facing machine learning and personalization systems
- Ability to influence and communicate, both verbally and in writing, with team members, business partners, and leadership
- Exposure to or participation in the development and execution of an enterprise strategy
- Experience with AWS and Sagemaker is a plus
- Passion for helping others find their version of fitness and wellness is a plus
- Passion for sneakers, Nike, and Jordan is a plus
Open to remote work, except cannot work in South Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia. These candidates will be required to relocate.
For employees based in Colorado, this position starts at $187,000 per year. Information about benefits can be found here.
