As part of Nike’s Global Technology Organization, you will be joining Nike’s Global Platform team providing service and IoT solutions as part of the development and deployment of enterprise systems for our business. Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to be part of a mission critical team passionate about building high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Cloud Based service platforms that drive Nike’s Digital transformation and growth strategies. The Senior Software Engineer serves as a technical subject matter expert for one software engineering team!
What will you work on?
We support mission critical platforms across multiple Nike business units providing platform services for RFID and QR Code technologies. The squad you support owns multiple microservices-based products that are built in-house to deliver value to our consumers. We will create distributed system designs, RESTful APIs, IoT enabled services and infrastructure via code.
In this role, you will
- Design and implement product features with the business and Technology partners
- Deep foundational knowledge of software engineering practices, particularly on distributed systems and cloud native architectures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, feeling as comfortable addressing executives as they are to the team
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to bring diverse groups together to tackle common goals
- Pragmatic and customer / value focused on solutions rooted in modern DevOps practices
- Highly passionate about delivery, being comfortable with both providing technical direction as well as being a contributing member of the team
- Ability to conduct performance monitoring, tuning, and analyze performance against benchmarks
- Experience, interest, and adaptability to working in an Agile delivery environment
Who will you work with?
We work with globally distributed teams across product, program, architecture, and engineering. Lead your squad in collaboration with other software squads to deliver end-to-end technology solutions. We will partner with architects and other teams to ensure that the ecosystem of services remains loosely coupled and independently scalable. This position reports into the Director of Engineering for your capability area.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field or any combination of relevant equivalent experience, education, and training
- A minimum of 5 years software development experience
- 3+ years’ working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g. Amazon (AWS) EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS)
- Programming experience, Python or Scala
- Experience working with Hadoop and related processing frameworks such as Spark, Hive, etc.
- 3+ years crafting and implementing highly scalable web applications
- 1+ year designing or implementing IoT/MQTT based services is desirable
- Experience with monitoring and tracing tools like Splunk, SignalFx and New Relic
- Experience on distributed tracing will be added advantage
- Experience with continuous integration (CI), unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests (continuous delivery (CD) experience
- Solid understanding of Scrum and Agile principles
- Experience with driving culture changes using DevOps principles and practices
- Commitment to and hands-on experience in performing technical code reviews
- Remote Work Option – Open to remote work, except cannot work in South Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia. These candidates will be required to relocate.
