Job Description

As a member of the Disaster Recovery Team, the Disaster Recovery Planning Analyst assists disaster recovery management in ensuring continuity of service and support to the NYC Health and Hospitals. The associated tasks are before, during and after an outage event that negatively impacts EITS data centers, infrastructure, systems, and/or applications by managing the design, implementation, maintenance, and communication of disaster recovery plans and processes that ensure the integrity and security of the information infrastructure systems, network, data, applications, and databases.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducts Business Impact Analysis (BIA) to determine the resources required to support application recovery/resumption based on the RTO and RPO.
  • Reviews new applications requirements, as specified during the IT Intake process.
  • Coordinates/facilitates disaster recovery plan development for IT systems infrastructure components, applications, network, and telecommunications.
  • Attends Vendor disaster recovery planning sessions. Coordinates disaster recovery plan development and participation on behalf of NYC H+H.
  • Participates in disaster recovery exercises (tests, as necessary) to validate documented disaster recovery plans.
  • Provides training on Disaster Recovery Plan procedures to staff as needed.
  • Participate in special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.


Department Preferences
