Oil States is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Python Programmer – Riser in Houston, Texas.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitoring and managing systems performance, providing technical support
- Interface with internal clients to determine functional requirements of code
- Develop/package/maintain new multi-user programs (typically to automate engineering tasks)
- Support engineering team with analysis software code interfaces (typically Abaqus, ANSYS, Orcaflex interfaces with Python and/or C++)
- Support engineering team and corporate IT with standardizing software set-up on servers, and with monitoring and managing utilization and storage requirements
- Prepare proposals/quotes for presentation to internal clients
- Review/revise/debug/consolidate/enhance/optimize/maintain existing code
- Supporting data architecture, generating reports and developing new in-house software to help improve and maintain engineering task efficiency
Other Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage interfaces with internal clients
- Manage project budget and schedule
- Strong aptitude for mathematics and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of basic physics fundamentals and practical engineering
- Keen attention to functionality, consistency, readability and aesthetics in interfaces and outputs
- Perform other tasks as assigned or requested by management
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelors (Masters preferred) in Computer Science or Computer Programming
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical (engineering or science oriented) computer programming
- Proficiency in coding Python, C++ and Visual Basic
- Advanced knowledge of operating systems, servers and cloud-based computing
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in the English language
- Self-starter: ability to complete tasks with limited guidance/supervision
- Detail oriented, organized and able to multi-task
- Ability to effectively assign priorities and resolve conflicts within daily routine tasks
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, etc.

- Requires the ability to operate a personal computer
- The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
