THE ROLE
OneMain Financial is seeking exceptional post-graduate students to join our Data Science Internship Program (DSIP). In this 10-week paid internship program you will dive into the deep end of consumer finance data science as you apply your newly learned skills to develop a real-world use case. Examples could be, but are not limited to, (1) evaluating non-traditional data sources to see if they result in better underwriting decisions, saving our hard-working customers millions in interest payments; (2) mining the โdigital exhaustโ of our marketing campaigns to identify new populations who would benefit from our products; or (3) partnering with our operations teams to surface data insights that will allow our thousands of branch staff to better serve our customers.
No matter the project, youโll be working on a real-world use case โ not a made-up simulation. If your solution works well enough, it will be deployed in the market. Along the way, you will be paired up with a data scientist who can give you the tips and tricks you wonโt learn in school, as well as their advice on how to successfully launch your professional journey. You will also be coached by a manager who will guide you through the full arc of a data science project. Finally, you will have direct exposure to senior leaders in data science and credit management who are eager to share their perspectives from their own career , as well as their thoughts on where this profession is headed.
