Role and Responsibilities
The Capital Markets team is responsible for managing the capital lifecycle at OpenView. Specifically, that includes fundraising, monitoring portfolio company performance, leading follow-on investment activity, and returning capital through exit transactions (e.g., M&A, IPOs). The role will partner closely with OpenView’s Finance team, who leads finance-related activities for both OpenViews and its funds. Both teams seek to drive objective decision-making and business insights through rigorous quantitative analysis.
The team is looking for an individual with exceptional financial analysis and critical thinking skills. Experience with and a desire to understand and evaluate unique business models through quantitative methods is critical to success in the role. An ideal candidate will constantly seek out new problems to solve and be comfortable in a dynamic environment.
Portfolio company strategy & analysis:
- Understanding the product, value proposition, and business model for each of OpenView’s portfolio companies
- Identifying key value drivers, opportunities, and risks associated with each business
- Employing financial and operational analysis to monitor developments across the portfolio
- Partnering with portfolio companies to access key financial metrics. Warehousing data scalably and efficiently for key internal stakeholders
- Clearly communicating findings to OpenView’s senior investment team verbally, in writing, and through Excel and Powerpoint
OpenView firmwide strategy & analysis:
- Leading internal strategic and financial projects, including long-term strategic planning, operational modeling, and ROI analysis on incremental investments
- Scoping, launching, and managing OKR processes in cross-functional environments
- Drafting, iterating on, and optimizing internal reporting materials and modeling templates to ensure data is efficiently presented to senior management
- Synthesizing and processing insights to transform complex findings/analyses into actionable recommendations
- Managing and optimize OpenView’s operating strategy, including goal planning and performance monitoring
- Corporate development and fund-raising:
- Evaluating and executing on venture capital investments, M&A, and equity capital markets transactions
- Exploring and developing new investment and fund strategies

The right candidate has 2-4 years of experience in the following roles:
- Investment banking, ideally in the technology sector
- Management consulting, specifically in the enterprise software sector
- Corporate development, corporate strategy, or strategic finance, particularly at a public or late-stage private software company
- Supporting portfolio companies at a venture capital or private equity firm
And possesses the following attributes:
- Extensive experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, and business / market research. Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
- A passion for solving complex problems through objective, quantitative decision-making
- The ability to synthesize insights from complex information into clear takeaways and recommendations, both orally and in writing
- A high level of comfort with ambiguity and dynamic environments.
- Exceptional relationship building skills, particularly cross-functionally and with senior management
- Low ego, high EQ with a great attitude and team-first mentality
