Job Description The Data Technologies & Analytics Solutions (DTAS) group is responsible for design and implementation of leading technology solutions for Data engineering, Data Sciences and advance analytics initiative to enable business capabilities for various functions across the Otsuka business. DTAS team is also responsible for doing research on leading platforms and solution for machine learning, AI, NLP and RPA capabilities.
What will the intern be doing?
The DTAS team in offering this great opportunity for an aspiring data scientist/data analytics strategist to gain real-world experience. The intern will build the roadmap for Commercial Analytics and identify the data science /data engineering capabilities required for the aforementioned roadmap under the supervision of the Commercial Analytics Business Partner, data scientists and data engineering experts.
Along the way you will make an impact across Otsuka by developing insightful analytics solutions and capabilities on business-critical trends which drive operational improvements in a way that serves our patient centric goals. From collaborating with internal partners to developing/ testing hypotheses, there is no shortage of opportunities for innovation in DTAS team – the sky’s the limit!
- You’ll learn how to identify the capabilities needed and how to set up roadmap for analytics teams.
- You’ll identify partner teams’ key challenges, identify solutions and required capabilities
- You’ll decipher problems by identifying data sources, making reasonable assumptions, and turn data into meaningful insights to help drive improvements for customers, for the business, and for our operations
- You’ll communicate insightful analyses findings and recommendations to support, influence and challenge business decisions to various levels of our leadership
- You’ll use of data visualization principles.
- You’ll apply basic probabilistic thinking to business problems.
- You’ll display good knowledge of our domain, business objectives and critical reasoning skills.
- You’ll become a data specialist and the point of contact for data questions and insights
- You’ll turn data-based findings and insights into hypotheses for testing

Work on a strategic initiative called Commercial Analytics Capabilities and Roadmap to perform research and develop a roadmap for the Analytical solutions. Qualifications/ Required Knowledge/ Experience and Skills:
- Available to start on XXXX, 202X, for a x-weeks program
- Graduating in 2024 with a degree in an analytical or business related subject such as Business Administration, Computer Science, Marketing Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Economics
- Demonstrated experience solving problems with data querying using SQL, statistics and modelling in classes, projects or prior work experience
- Have strong analytical skills and be self-motivated
- Have skills in Tableau, R, Python are a bonus for data transformation, analysis and visualization
- Effective communication skills and the ability to engage with a variety of partners (e.g., internal, external, technical, non-technical people)
- Experience using Microsoft Office, such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written
- Ability to work on multiple projects while executing on key deliverables within required timeframes Educational Qualifications Minimum
- University student in their penultimate year in a computer science, engineering or equivalent program with expected graduation date of Spring 2024/Dec 2024
- Knowledge of Big Data platforms and tools like AWS, Azure, GCP and tools like Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Python/PySpark, etc.
- Ability to structure and analyze data in appropriate framework (e.g., Excel, Access, VBA, SQL)
- Passion for data tools and processes to drive business insights
- Strong analytical thinking, process management and quality control
- Ability to quickly understand and appreciate underlying business context, problems and objectives of analytical projects
- Clear communication skills to run well defined analyses and produce reports
- Excellent time management skills
- Good experience in multiple database technologies such as distributed processing (Spark, Hadoop), traditional RDBMS (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
