Job Description:

We’re actively seeking a talented Actuary of Product Analytics, to join our Product Design team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha NE. This role can be on-site or 100% remote.

As an Assistant Actuary of Product Analytics, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by supporting the experience studies function as well as enhancing our predictive analytics capabilities throughout the product life cycle.

The job level is to be determined based on level of experience and qualifications.

How you will make an impact:
Provide support and lead the preparation of experience studies for assumption setting. Look for ways to improve existing data processes in R.

Prepare data and conduct analysis for experience studies. Run reports to answer management questions as necessary and provide line of sight into emerging experience on the books of business issued.

Work with model owners to understand how assumptions are reflected in the model and document appropriately.

Perform peer reviews for various experience studies.

Present experience study findings to Assumption Working Group members.

Create and maintain Tableau dashboards to monitor actual vs. experience for various products and riders.

Prepare data for participation in external industry studies to validate assumptions and benchmark against competitors. Summarize and report key findings.

Assist with developing best estimate policyholder behavior assumptions for new products in absence of existing experience through leveraging industry data and actuarial judgment.

Monitor and develop tools to track emerging trends that could impact profitability over the life of the product.

Look for opportunities for collaboration with other teams where Analytics input is useful. Create dashboards that directly align with stakeholders’ needs.

Implement process improvements, automation, and efficiencies where applicable.

Provide additional data/summaries in response to ad hoc requests from internal teams as it relates to divisional experience studies, external industry studies or dashboards.

The experience you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, other related field

3-5 years of work experience, ASA designation a plus

Attention to detail; passionate about working with large datasets and drawing insights from it

Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and to manage long-term projects

Effective communication skills to present data insights in a clear and concise manner

What will make you stand out:
Experience working with statistical computing software (e.g. R) and SQL database language

Experience working with large data sets and data visualization software (e.g. Tableau)

Working knowledge of life insurance and/or annuity products and experience studies
