Job Description:
Pacific Life is looking to invest in bright, agile new talent to ensure we continue to innovate and strengthen relationships with our policyholders. We’re actively seeking a talented Actuarial Analyst to join our GAAP Valuation team in Aliso Viejo, CA and take part in our people-first culture. Employees in this role can work onsite, hybrid or 100% remote.

As part of the GAAP Valuation team, you will be responsible for supporting the ongoing transformation efforts to GAAP valuation of life insurance products. You will be a part of the team tasked with implementing a significant change to GAAP accounting standards and play an important role toward the successful adoption of Long-Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI). You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of five people on the GAAP Valuation team. Your colleagues will include fellow actuaries and valuation professionals.

How you will make an impact:
Support Actuarial Transformation initiatives to improve and automate the entire end to end valuation process, including input data gathering, reserve calculations, and financial reporting

Develop tools and perform testing to validate the application of LDTI principles to life insurance products

Enhance existing GAAP analyses by improving efficiency and/or building new metrics and insights using various data analytics and visualization tools

Collaborate with other functional areas to build, test and validate reporting of both required disclosures and key internal management metrics

Support development of analyses & communication to effectively explain to senior management the financial impacts of LDTI adoption

Support and develop working knowledge of the GAAP quarterly financial statement process, under both current GAAP and LDTI requirements

Assist with ad-hoc projects and request supporting the Valuation area as needed

Actively pursue the ASA/FSA credential by participating in the Actuarial Student Program

Tech & Tools You’ll Use

FIS Prophet, Alteryx, R, Tableau, Snowflake, MS Office

The experience you’ll bring:
Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 SOA exam and 0-2 years of related working experiences

Strong analytic and problem-solving skills

Drive for innovation and continuous improvement

Effective communication, multi-tasking, and organization skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
