We’re actively seeking a talented Sr. Investment Operations Data Analyst to join our Investment Operations team in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site or potentially 100% remote.
As a Sr. Investment Operations Data Analyst, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by optimizing our use of investment data. By supporting our Fixed Income, Derivative and other Investments, you will be responsible for work related to Investment Data Acquisition, Data Validation, Data Modeling, Data Flow, Data Mapping and Reporting, including assisting with stewardship of our Data Warehouse & Intelligence program. You will fill a new role that sits on a team of 16 people in the Corporate division. Your colleagues will include fixed income and derivative operations analysts as well as fellow data professionals. While a part of the Operations team, your role will extend beyond just operational data usage.
How you will make an impact:
Assist in maintaining and creating investment data flows, such as ensuring STP trade-flow from front to back-office systems.
Similarly assist in maintaining and creating reporting for investment data using Business Intelligence (BI) tools while also providing oversight for reporting, across all departments, to ensure reports provide accurate information to meet the business need.
Actively participate in data modeling and mapping to align equivalent data in legacy and new systems.
Participate in work as a liaison with our IT areas acting as a Subject Matter Expert on Investment Related Projects.
Find ways to streamline processes using data.
Assist in selection, design and implementation of our next generation Data Warehouse along with Data Management and BI tools. Provide forward-looking thought leadership in this space to advance Pacific Life’s capabilities and drive a competitive edge
Provide Data Governance over Data Warehouse and Reporting solutions, which would include validating data for accuracy, consistency and completeness,
Identify opportunities to leverage data science/analytics to drive insights or capabilities
The experience you will bring:
Requires in-depth knowledge and experience. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve processes
Ability to work independently
5+ years of experience
4-year degree or equivalent experience
What will make you stand out (systems experience):
SQL
Business Objects and other BI tools such as PowerBI and Google Looker
Collibra Data Governance Toolset
Python & Data Science Libraries such as Pandas and Numpy
Bloomberg (AIM, Terminal, Data License and API)
IDC, Reuters & other Market Data Providers
Tamale
Investment Product Familiarity:
Fixed Income products such as Treasuries, Corporates, Munis, MBS, ABS, CMOs
Bank Loans
True Private Placement instruments
Derivatives such as Equity TRS, Cross Currency Swaps, OTC Equity Options, Futures, Interest Rate Swaps
Other products such as Equities, Mutual Funds, ETF’s and Working Capital Finance Instruments
The lifecycle and operational processes that support these products, such as corporate actions, pricing, collateral management & margining, Trade and SMF feeds, etc.
