The Analytics team is central to Chegg – we use data and analyses to support every business line and the marketing and product organizations. We are a team composed of analysts, data scientists, economists, mathematicians, statisticians and engineers. Our group is part of the larger data organization at Chegg that focuses on enabling data and insights at scale. We use a world-class set of instrumentation, analysis and data science technologies to transform our data into insights and then into knowledge. While the analytics group is centralized, we heavily partner with our stakeholders to ensure insights delivered are directly usable for decision making and ultimately adds value to Chegg. The role: Data Scientist

We are looking for a highly motivated and a self-starter Data Scientist to help understand and build predictability around business performance; and support scoping, launch and measuring impact of product initiatives. This person should be able to provide meaningful insights into business performance

The incumbent will work closely with analysts and business community on a day to day basis. We are looking for someone with exceptional data mining, analytical and visualization skills and excellent communication skills along with the ability to work in an on/offshore model. The candidate should have an eye for detail and be able to own creation and maintenance of ETL workflows that feed into key dashboards while being able to derive key actionable insights

Responsibilities

• Work with Business Intelligence and Data Engineering teams to ensure that the data solutions being built are aligned with Analytics requirements.
• Build and automate dashboards and compelling data visualizations to provide meaningful insights into business performance. Provide support for data analysis.
• Working with marketing managers, data engineers and product owners to maintain and improve measurement capabilities.
• Developing experimentation frameworks to allow us to improve the targeting of our marketing through segmentation and assessing incremental impact of campaigns through AB Testing.
• Build thoughtful and detailed analytical models to support business cases
• Partner directly with business and product analysts to understand business needs for insights and analytics.

Requirements

• Bachelors’/Masters’ Degree in Computer Science/Business/Marketing/IT/Statistics, specializing in Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, or related fields.
• 1-3 years of experience in data visualization, data analysis, systems analysis, extracting data from multiple sources, transforming into meaningful information and delivering meaningful insights into business performance.
• Experience working in on/offshore development model.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced product company.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented, independent, organized, and proactive, highly responsive, flexible and adaptable when working across multiple teams.
• Passionate about producing high-quality analytics deliverables and communicating recommendations effectively to a broad audience.
• Must have the drive to learn and master new data-access, manipulation, and transformation platforms.

Analytical Toolset

• Required:
• Must have advanced SQL and data manipulation skills. Should be comfortable compiling data across multiple data sources. Should have experience working with data models
• Hands-on experience working with Python programming and Databricks platform is preferrable.
• Advanced Excel knowledge
• Good experience with one or more databases like Redshift, Postgres, Oracle, Teradata, MySQL etc
• Excellent data visualization skills using Tableau/Domo or other data visualization tools;
• Experience with web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Amplitude or others is a plus.
• Experience working in data lakehouse environment is a plus.
• Experience working in cloud environment such as AWS, GCP is a plus.
