Python Software Engineer for Client Facing Analytics Platform

You are a talented python developer, and this software development team within a tier-one investment bank has a great role for you. You’ll be working on our greenfield project delivering a client facing analytics platform. Specifically, you will be involved in enhancing our platform to build out the data ingestion stack to support the platform. You will also work on the generation of analytics and will have an opportunity to learn about financial analytics around Risk and Attribution.
You’ll work closely with colleagues on the team, other development teams, operational staff and technology management with opportunities to demonstrate technical leadership.
You love nothing better than writing well-tested code that creates stable resilient services. Within the team you’ll be working with the other python developers to deliver services using python, an object datastore and compute grid. You need to have a build once and use everywhere mentality.

Key responsibilities
- Work with business sponsors to understand new work enhancements
- Agree the schedule of delivery of the work with stakeholders and manage the demand from inception to production delivery.
- As part of the wider team perform code reviews and ensure that we maintain the level of quality we are after as well as mentor more junior team members.
- Be a guardian of the platform and push others to raise the bar on the overall quality of the platform.
Essential Skills:
- OO Python
- Disciplined approach to code management, testing and deployment practices
- Excellent analytical skills (i.e. problem solving)
- A solid foundation in computer science and software engineering principles
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Grid computing
- Knowledge of Object Databases
- Experience of the full project lifecycle (i.e. breaking requirements down into technical deliverables and providing effort estimation).
- Strong stakeholder management.
- Experience of working in a front office environment within financial services
