The Software Developer will be responsible for the development, improvement, and maintenance of the databases used by the BI Analytics team. You will need to understand the dataflow into our pipelines and monitor/manage the databases to ensure they are performant, accessible, and always maintained. You will work with our Power BI developer and other developers to coordinate changes, conduct testing, and implement modifications/new capabilities. You will also need to participate in internal team discussions as well as collaboration with our Customer Service Managers and Business Operations teams.

Essential Functions/Job Requirements

• Handle backup and recovery, performance issues, and management of SQL Server databases
  

• Author and maintain SQL Server Agent scheduled Jobs

• Author and maintain SSIS or ADF solutions
  

• Providing schema solutions and queries to enable efficient data access

• Assist with evaluating various tests for different environments and tasks

• Investigate and analyze reported data issues

• Attend daily Business Analytics Program (BAP) scrum meetings and weekly sprint reviews

• Contribute to writing/maintaining technical documentation

• Passion for analyzing data to solve problems and improve systems

• Passion for solving tough technical challenges and delivering quality products that meets end user requirements

• Self-motivated, self-directed and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

• Strong communicator – verbal and written

• Fast learner who works well in a team environment

• Good at cross group collaboration

• Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand (i.e. daily standup and other team meetings), especially since the project team is managed from the Eastern Time Zone of the United States

Minimum Required Education/Experience ( 3-5 Years)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and experience

• 3-5 years of industry experience, hands-on database development projects

• Fluency in Microsoft SQL DB technologies and tools: SQL DWH, SSIS

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Familiarity with agile software delivery methodologies such as Scrum

• Experience with Power BI integration/use of data a plus

• Experience with Azure a plus

• Experience with JIRA a plus

The person will be required to:

• Drive the development and analysis of data, reporting automation, Dash boarding, and business intelligence programs.
• Ability to manage high volume and high complexity projects across multiple delivery location in virtual environment with excellent client communication skills
• Highly competent technically with significant, hands-on expertise in technical architecture and delivery of data visualization and Analytics solution
• Conduct business due-diligence activities to identify analytics led opportunities for transforming business

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in building & optimizing PowerBI dashboards
• Must be able to integrate Power BI reports into other applications using embedded analytics like Power BI service (SaaS), or by API automation.
• Should be able to write Power BI DAX queries, functions and formula.
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
• Able to implement row level security on data and have an understanding of application security layer models in Power BI.
• Have been end to end implemented the BI & Reporting solution
• Hands on experience in Rest API Development
• Adept in developing, publishing and scheduling Power BI reports as per the business requirements.
• Should have prior experience in creating drill down reports charts.
• Deployment knowledge to external servers outside Power BI.
• Proficiency with DAX expressions and M language.
• Should be capable of managing PowerBI User account
• Working with PowerBI Premium would be advantageous
• Should have knowledge and skills for secondary tools such as Microsoft Azure, SQL data warehouse, PolyBase, Visual Studio, etc.

We are hiring BI Developer who will be contributing to the designing, developing, and maintaining of Microsoft Business Intelligence (MSBI) solutions to achieve the BI & Analytics objectives and goals. A strong focus of the role is the use of BI & Analytics tools and software to develop innovative solutions, report and visualizations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DECISIONS/ LEVEL OF AUTHORITY

• Responsible for designing, coding and testing software applications to support BI & Analytics COE activities, and actively drive innovation and change across the solution development team to improve business performance
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting, craft and execute queries upon request from key business stakeholders, applying the application of appropriate development tools, set priorities for projects including equipment and resources to ensure timely delivery of agreed projects, and assist the Build Manager in reporting on the progress against schedule and budget.
• Assess and communicate risk in relation to solution delivery, identify relevant resources for the program of development including third parties where required to deliver project outcomes, monitor and challenge KPIs for vendor performance and identify gaps and areas of service improvement, follow the transition process for build into support from the COE, ensure appropriate governance and compliance in relation to software development activities, and ensure simplification and repeatability of BI & Analytics reporting tools
• Foster an innovative culture and approach across the BI & Analytics COE, apply the relevant security and risk management protocols as required, maintain solution documentation as appropriate, and follow the appropriate release management processes across the Toll IT Enterprise
• Ensure all development meets and exceeds business expectations by collaborating across the BI and Analytics community globally, collaborate with teams to integrate systems and provide any third level support in post-production as required.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• At least 3 to 5 or more years of relevant experience in application software development
• Must have experience in using SQL in report development with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), good to have experience in Power BI
• Deployment of applications in a SaaS / PaaS environment
• Experience in COBIT or ITIL best practice
• Experience with BI & Analytics presentation layer tools and products
• Bachelor’s in IT, computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline, and strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint presentation and Word skills
