Introduction:

The Virtual Desktop Operations team within Barclays Collaboration Services fronts the service delivery of a 24×7 third-level and engineering support service across ConnectApps and VDI solutions within the firm. The team aim to pro-actively improve the environment through monitoring and automation, and so ensure Service Operations continue to underpin the growth of the business as a whole.

Purpose of role: To provide 24*7 supports to internal & external users. Manage Multiple Citrix farms and VDI.

• Managing multiple Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop/VDI farms (monitoring, housekeeping, changing, app releasing and many other BAU tasks)
• Developing and integrating of key technology solutions

What will you be doing?

• Manage Citrix XenAppp and XenDesktop/VDI systems (monitoring, capacity management and planning, business continuity management, housekeeping)
• Implement releases, undertake installation and maintenance of applications to CitrixVDI platform
• Provide 3rd line support for incidents and problems, respond to user queries and data requests efficiently
• Analyse incidents, identify root causes and provide solutions for system issues.
• Analyse existing workloads and implement automations where possible
• Assist other line technicians with support issues where required and mentor them where necessary
• Provide technical support and advice to users
• Compose required servicesupport documentation
• Understanding of the Banks security protocols within the environment
• Assists in integrating, configuring and testing infrastructure solutions provided by Engineering
• Take direction from Engineers and Senior Engineers in all areas of system support and system performance
• Ensures quality and efficiencies in implementation and maintenance of systems
• Broad understanding of BCM/DR related activities within the service
• On Call/out of business hours availability is required
• Capacity Planning and Monitoring
• Ability to work shifts.

What we’re looking for:

• Strong broad and current technology knowledge acquired in enterprise scale infrastructure organization.
• Skills and experience of Citrix and Ivanti products.
• Knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems in enterprises.
• Knowledge of VMware virtualization products in enterprises.
• Knowledge of Ivanti products in enterprises.
• Familiarity with enterprise software deployment products.
• Demonstrated understanding of desktop virtualization concepts.
• Awareness of application virtualization and application streaming concepts.
• Familiarity with diverse hardware platforms
• A track record of working within a services/support organization and familiarity.
• Understanding of Remote Support Solutions.
• Experience of working with global enterprise support teams.
• A confident and motivated person, with demonstrable experience working in a challenging / high pressure environment.
• Experience of working within a truly global organization, and the challenges that brings (time zone, culture, etc.).
• Can demonstrate experience in managing a variety of improvement streams.
• A proven track history of manipulation of large amounts of raw data and the ability to represent this to senior stakeholders in a clear and succinct manner.
• Strong communication and senior management presentation skills.

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Bachelor degree preferred in Computers.
• Strong knowledge of other technologies (like Windows, AD, Storage, VMWare, Appsense, powershell etc)
• Good communication skills.
• 10-15 years of experience on Citrix products (especially Xenapp & Xendesktop).
• 2-5 years of experience on Ivanti products.
• Strong knowledge of other technologies (windows, AD, VMware etc).

Job Description Summary

The Micrositing engineer will perform wind studies and loads analysis for specific wind farms projects, will calculate and maximize the production of energy for each wind farm and determine the suitability of the site based on the loads evaluation. The engineer will be in direct contact with sales team and GE customers to optimize wind turbine proposals and provide the best customer solution.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

This critical engineering role in the front end of the business helps us understand the operating environment for our turbines, assessing their production capability, mechanical loading, and proposing ways to add customer value.

In this role, you will:

• Support new units proposals by performing Wind Resource, Annual Energy Production, Turbine Layout Optimization, noise propagation Assessments.
• Translate measured wind conditions to wind resource characterizations and generate input conditions to Mechanical Loads Assessments;
• Develop solutions to increase customer value and enable wind farm optimization;
• Perform Simple Mechanical Loads Analysis for new units proposals by assessing site specific loads.
• Explore methods that utilize linear flow models, CFD, mesoscale and a combination to enable improved assessments of past and future site production and extended turbine life;
• Provide support to customers for technical inquiries and communications, as well as review of customer specifications and site data;
• Network with other Micrositing and Loads engineers for best practice sharing. Work with other engineering and product development departments to optimize GE products;
• Drive Process changes and simplification allowing the team to achieve “Fulfillment Excellence” thru on-time delivery with first time quality for all proposals;
• Help in the testing of new digital tools to simplify micrositing and loads assessments.
• Contribute to new and existing design practices
• Track industry trends and R&D initiatives. Proactively implement trends and new ideas into our internal processes in collaboration with the global WRA team.
• Foster metrics to maximize customer satisfaction & minimize resource consumption
• Lead peer reviews. Provide coaching & mentorship in the team & business

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science (Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Atmospheric Science, or related) from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 5 years of significant experience in Engineering/Technology
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience working on Wind Resource Assessment
• Strong proficiency in English, with multi-lingual capacity
• Ability and willingness to accept challenges outside of technical expertise / comfort zone
• Self Motivated, Team player, with Demonstrated Creativity

Desired Characteristics

• Experience in wind resource assessment, site screening and in the wind energy development process
• Experience with WAsP, WAsP Engineering, OpenWind, WindPro (or equivalent wind flow modeling),mesoscale wind methods, Wind Turbine micro-siting, and wind farm design
• Experience with layout design and optimization for wind farms
• Field instrumentation, test and/or validation experience
• Experience in wind turbine loads analysis
• Ability to break-down complex issues, determine possible courses of action, and enable effective decision making
• Programing skills: Python, matlab, etc
• Experience providing technical support to sales, commercial and marketing functions.
• Strong written, oral, & presentation skills
• Global experience with proven ability to work with international teams
