Your Role and Responsibilities

Our Linux development team is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the full stack (Linux kernel and its device drivers, libraries, tools, compilers, debuggers, virtualization (KVM) and test automation & CI/CD). We tightly collaborate with the international development teams of IBM (e.g. hardware and firmware development), the global maintainers of Open Source communities, and our Linux distribution partners (Red Hat, SUSE, Canonical). Our focus is on the support of the IBM Z / LinuxONE architecture, e.g. new processor instructions, new I/O attachments (PCIe, NVMe, Ethernet, RDMA etc.) and accelerators for cryptographic functions. Linux on IBM Z / LinuxONE forms the basis of many of IBM’s commercial solutions in Cloud, Analytics and AI.

Your responsibilities will comprise of design and specifications for new enhancements, coding (including test automation), problem determination and bug fixing, performance analysis, and solving client problems. Your attendance at Open Source community meetings is recommended and supported, and client facing activities (e.g. client support, providing lectures at conferences) are possible. You will closely interact with the respective Open Source communities (“upstream integration” of your code) and our distribution partners (Red Hat, SUSE, Canonical).

In this job offering, we are specifically looking for a new team member to grow our OpenSHIFT for Linux on Z Development Squad. Hands-on exposure to OpenSHIFT would be desirable, Exposure and contribution to OKD would be an asset. Your job would involve ensuring OpenSHIFT works on Linux on Z Arch.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of previous experience as a data analyst or relevant role
  • Proficient with SQL: and can write well optimized queries including a variety of functions

  • Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and communicate findings
  • Work in close collaboration with data scientists to perform exploratory data analysis

The Internship program is to help a fresh engineering graduate to grow into the role of a technical trainer in the enablement team at Aera. You will be mentored to deliver virtual training, maintain training sandboxes, design, develop and deliver assignments.
Your internship program will be run by two senior enablement practitioners who are mandated to implement the new paradigm of digital and virtual learning programs. The programs go beyond traditional learning techniques and will use digital adoption strategies to optimize investments in the Aera Platform for all stakeholders.

Technical training is as much about training delivery, learner management and facilitation as it is about programming, problem solving and technical solutions. You will get to experience both the areas

Responsibilities

    • Assist the Senior Enablement Specialist with delivering training
    • Troubleshoot issues on training Sandbox and raise necessary tickets
    • Work on creating assignments for learners
    • Shadow the Senior Enablement Specialist on virtual sessions
    • Identify and understand the unique enablement, training and certification
    • Work with subject matter experts across multiple functions such as Architects, and Skill Developers to help build training environments that reflect real work scenarios
    • Responsible for maintenance of training instances of the product/platform
    • Work with subject matter experts and instructional designers to develop Use cases, product simulations and training data required

About You

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Experience working with JSON and XML files
    • Experience using APIs
    • Familiarity with workflows in programming concept
