The Global Credit Risk, Seller Risk, and Collections (GCSC) organization is looking for a technical and strategically oriented professional to join its team. The Data Analyst, Model Controls, will be responsible for executing the enterprise-wide Model Risk Management (MRM) Policies and Procedures for ongoing model monitoring within the GCSC organization. As a Data Analyst for the First Line of Defense Model Risk Controls function, you will be responsible for executing the ongoing model monitoring processes for models used across the credit lifecycle in the Global Credit Risk business within PayPal and supporting the model governance activities. Our team ensures that the Model Controls function follows the enterprise-wide MRM standards and procedures and external regulatory guidance. These include gathering data on production scores and account performance, configuring automated ongoing model monitoring execution jobs, interpreting the ongoing model monitoring results, communicating the insights to stakeholders (model developers, model owners, Second Line oversight team, partner banks), and conducting deep dives for investigating model performance as required. Job Description:
In your role as Data Analyst, Model Controls, you will:
- Demonstrate a good understanding of Machine Learning algorithms used in credit risk models
- Execute ongoing model monitoring for all models spanning across the customer lifecycle used in GCSC organization per the enterprise-wide Model Risk Management standards
- Prepare and present ongoing model monitoring reports to various stakeholders (such as model developers, model owners, Second Line of Defense teams, and partner banks)
- Conduct deep dives into any model performance deterioration (if observed) and recommend appropriate remediation actions when necessary
- Establish an ongoing model monitoring schedule in compliance with the enterprise-wide MRM standards and procedures
- Develop tools to extend and automate further the existing ongoing model monitoring framework as well as continuously improve ongoing model monitoring processes
- Collaborate with the model governance team to ensure that all models are accurately inventoried and adequately documented
Requirements (Minimum qualifications):
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in a quantitative area is strongly preferred – including mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, economics, or finance
- Strong programming skills for data science (Python, R, SAS, or similar) are a must
- 2+ years of experience in model development, model validation, or model monitoring
- Experience in banking, consumer or business lending, or credit risk is strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as stakeholder management skills
- Self-driven, team worker, responsible, delivery oriented
- Extremely detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as experienced in handling multiple projects simultaneously using practical time management skills
- Ability to work with large volumes of data from various sources and extract relevant information for the respective objective
- Ability to assume ownership of assigned tasks and deliver a quality product within the time allocated
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues and peers. Ability to demonstrate collaboration and partnership and actively promote teamwork
