Title: Mobile application developer (iOS & Android) intern
Description: We have a great opportunity for a mobile application development intern responsible for developing a device agnostic app for mobile phones. The primary focus will be development of mobile applications and their integration with back-end services working alongside other engineers focused on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential.
The mobile application will power at-home collection of a wide spectrum of biomedical data, ranging from remote patient surveys to voice recordings and motion data. This work will enable the development and deployment of digital measures of health in clinical trials across therapeutic areas supported by the Biomeasures, Endpoints & Study Technologies (BEST) group at Pfizer, as well as the possibility of extending the work into software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD). The mission of BEST is to support Pfizer in getting life-changing drugs to market through innovative sensor and imaging-based technologies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with our team at the forefront of the digital health revolution, located in the heart of the world’s biotech hub at the Pfizer site in Kendall Square, Cambridge, USA.
MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Front-end: Build the framework for a flexible and general data collection mobile application Back-end: Extend AWS back-end to handle real-time authentication, data processing, storage, and security. RESTful API: Connect front-end with back-end using a secure RESTful API
Required Skills/Experience
- Successfully completed at least three years in the bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), or equivalent
- Experience creating mobile iOS applications using Swift
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect iOS applications to back-end services
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools
- A passion for technology in the life sciences.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Experience creating mobile Android applications would be a plus
- Experience with AWS platform: serverless architecture, Amplify, and Lambda
- Knowledge of object-oriented languages and of mobile design patterns
- Understanding of API specs (REST APIs, Microservices)
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON, databases
- A mindset of creativity, innovation, and energetic drive to succeed
- Knowledge of and experience with Flutter is preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of open-source test automation framework and test management tools
- Knowledge of software application design and architecture
- Experience in Cloud and Mobile App Design fundamentals
- Familiarity with continuous integration
Internship Duration: 4 months
Location: Chennai (preferred) or Mumbai. This is a full-time hybrid opportunity, and the candidate will be expected to be in office at least 3 days/week.
