Department Overview
PG&E’s Business Finance team provides critical financial support to its operational Business Partners within the company. This support includes but is not limited to financial analysis, budgeting, planning and forecasting, monitoring, performance metric reporting and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company’s strategic, operational and financial objectives.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will join the Planning and Performance Management group as a Business Finance Analyst, Expert supporting Electric, Gas and the overall Operations and Engineering Planning & Strategy (EP&S) organizations. Partner organizations include Electric Operations, Gas Operations, Electric Engineering, Gas Engineering, Vegetation Management and System Inspections, Emergency Preparedness & Response, Operations Support, Energy Policy and Procurement, and other smaller organizations within Operations and EP&S.
The Expert will be responsible for leading process improvement and standardization, tool and reporting package development for the monthly Expense and Capital Spend (ECS) reporting process across all of Operations and Engineering Planning & Strategy. This requires a strong financial and accounting understanding, business acumen, process design/improvement experience and technical/tool development knowledge.
The candidate will serve as a business partner focusing on finance and accounting, including financial portfolio management, reporting, and forecasting. They will coordinate with the others in Planning and Performance Management as well as the Electric and Gas Business Finance teams to evaluate, improve and develop tools that support this process, and help produce executive level reporting packages. The Expert will need to work across several teams, understand existing and future business needs, be able to drive consensus and decision making on process and tool improvements, and support the change management process. Key partner interaction will include the Operations Work Plan and Portfolio Management, as well as Investment Planning organizations. The individual will balance and utilize their functional expertise, intellectual curiosity, ethics, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain integrative relationships and ensure best in class decision and information reporting support.
Job Responsibilities
Partner with P&PM leadership, Electric and Gas Business Finance teams, and partner organizations to drive high performance and execute business goals and priorities.
Establish and maintain effective partnerships with Electric and Gas Business Finance and other Finance and Accounting and partner organizations aimed at identifying and understanding the business needs and providing strategic tools and guidance.
Lead the Electric forecasting and reporting process improvement and tool development workstream
Drive standardization of financial reporting, analytics, and modeling across business units
Act as a consultant to the other Business Finance team members on data management/visualization tools.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards to support reporting processes and goals.
Qualifications
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience or training
Job-related experience, 5yrs
Desired MBA CPA and/or CFA 7 years of relevant experience Working knowledge of SAP R3, SAP BW Ability to execute tactically as well as depict the whole idea / strategic analysis Exceptional time management skills to deal with tight deadlines Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and presentation skills Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word Successful track record of working collaboratively with teams Understanding of Utility Accounting fundamentals and the PG&E cost model to consult on program issues
