Department Overview
The Wildfire Risk Organization is responsible for assisting the company to act decisively and transparently to prevent fires of consequence from being caused by our equipment. The organization will develop objectives to 1) prevent fires of consequence originating from our equipment; 2) meet all commitments outlined in our Wildfire Mitigation Plan; 3) continue to foster trusted relationships with key stakeholders; and 4) develop consistent processes and work standards through the implementation of the Lean Operating System for sustainable operations.
Position Summary
The Expert, Wildfire Risk Operations and Planning, plays a critical role in supporting PG&E interaction with external partners and stakeholders, including other CA Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs). The Expert will be the responsible for helping the Wildfire Risk Organization benchmark, align and coordinate with the counterpart organizations at Southern California Edison (SCE), San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) and other sister utilities around Wildfire Mitigation activities. Working as part of a highly motivated and impactful team, the successful candidate will help the Wildfire Risk organization attain its goals by leveraging exceptional communication, analytical and strategic skills, while applying the highest work ethic, and has energy and passion for risk-informed, data-driven decision making, collaboration and continuous improvement.
This position will provide a great experience to build a deep understanding of the Utility Risk landscape, build a network across the Company and Utility Industry, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver on Enterprise-level problem solving and results.
This position offers a flexible work location within the PG&E service territory.
Job Responsibilities
Work closely with the Safety and Risk Organization’s Leadership, representatives of other CA Utilities and PG&E’s Operational Lines of Business to organize quarterly Joint IOU Risk Summits; develop agendas of critical issues for the Risk leaders
Collect and work cross-functionally to drive to completion the follow up items from the Joint IOU Risk Summits’ recommendations
Build working relationships across the CA Utilities to develop benchmarking materials, white papers and reports related to risk modelling, Wildfire Risk mitigations and controls, operational practices and regulatory environment.
Develop solid understanding of Wildfire Mitigation Plans (WMPs), Wildfire Risk Modelling and Mitigation work, including System Hardening / Undergrounding, Vegetation Management, System Inspections, Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS), etc.
Develop and present summary presentations for senior management
Track and report relevant metrics, KPIs and reports
Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or a job-related discipline or equivalent experience
Job-related experience, 6 years
Desired:
Master’s Degree or equivalent experience
Advanced communication and presentation skills to deliver complex data and findings to Sr. Management
Experience with regulatory processes
Demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships across organizations
Analytical and creative problem solving, strategic decision-making ability
Broad knowledge of project management, process improvement best practices, concepts, methods, and techniques
Familiar with the Utility industry
Strong organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
