Overview
Analytics Engineer / Analyst
As a Analytics Engineer / Analyst, you’ll be customizing implementations for the Analytics Platform, our web-based software platform. You’ll be working closely with clients to understand their needs and then designing and implementing business models and interfaces (web pages with inputs, tables, graphs) to address those needs. Most of your time will be spent creating, refining, and validating the business analytics in Analytica and the visualizations using the d3 JavaScript library.
What this job is not:
- This is not a “business analyst” position, so degrees such as business, accounting, or finance are not well-suited.
- This is not a Data Science or “big data” job.
- This is not a consulting position—we do not analyze client data or make recommendations about their portfolios.
Responsibilities
What you’ll work with:
Analytica, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (and frameworks like jQuery, Underscore, and d3), Git, Excel
Qualifications
You want to build analytic models to solve business problems, but you don’t want to be locked away in a room to do it. You want to spend some of your time working with programming languages such as JavaScript, but you don’t want to be a programmer. You want to work with high-level staff in our client organizations, and you want to be ready to do it in months, not years. You want an informal work environment on a day-to-day basis, but you can turn on the “professional” when working with clients. You like to teach others as well as learn from them, and you want to continually develop new skills. You’re eager to accept a great deal of responsibility and enjoy the autonomy that comes along with it. You have a BA or an MS in a quantitative discipline, and you were one of the best in your class. You’re willing to travel up to 30%, but you want to spend most of your time at home–wherever that is!.
You may have experience working with d3.js; familiarity with statistical methods and software; an understanding of financial analysis; or knowledge of the pharmaceutical, biotech, or high-technology industries. Or you may not.
