Job Detail:
Do you have experience with and a passion for utilizing data to drive business strategy in a customer focused environment? If so, consider joining Principal as a Senior Data and Analytics Consultant.
In this role, the selected candidate will:
- Consult with business leaders to understand strategic initiatives, including the context of related business problems and the intent of proposed solutions. With this knowledge, identify key data points that will quantitatively demonstrate value of the solution to generate reasonable measurement models.
- Based on knowledge of strategy and pain points, develop and deliver rich statistical analysis to bring insights to the Individual Solutions leadership team.
- Assist in the further development of the Individual Solutions data program, mentoring and training other analysts to pull out actionable insights from reporting data.
- Identify, recommend, and drive changes to enterprise and business unit data structures to further the strategic goals of Individual Solutions.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree with a preferred course of study / major in statistics/mathematics, engineering, predictive analytics or data science. However, additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Five (5)+ years of related professional experience in
analytics, consulting, project management, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in aggregating data to find risks or opportunities, as well as make recommendations to reach business goals.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking, oral and written communication (including presentation skills), results oriented, and consultation skills.
- Proven ability to understand the context of a business problem and how a proposed solution in intending to address that solution, to then identify key data points that will quantitatively demonstrate the value of that solution.
- Knowledge of Principal’s enterprise data systems and designs is preferred.
- Comfort with various methods of both descriptive and predictive statistical analysis, including logistic regression, cluster detection, and decision trees.
- Proven ability to apply knowledge of statistical modeling, segmentation, value analysis, as well as reporting for sales or business activity.
- Experience in PowerBI and Excel is ideal.
Location and Travel: This position can operate 100% remotely from anywhere within the United States. This position may have the opportunity to travel approximately four times per year but is not required.
Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range: $95200 – $182400 / year Additional Information:
