Learn more about 9th Way Insignia at https://9thwayinsignia.com/ Team (Project) Introduction 9th Way Insignia is looking for a Jr. Information Security Analyst, to join the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Information Assurance Support Services (IASS) team to aid in the support of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities to include support in all aspects of the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) process. The IASS project provides program management, administration, system security assessment, data automation, development, and process engineering services that support IA and its efforts to address SDLC visibility, ATO management, and continual process improvement in advance of system ATO expirations. Additionally, the IASS team will monitor and assist with IA process integration of all aspects of the VA cyber security A&A process, and applicable VA Quality, Performance, and Risk (QPR), VA Agile Center of Excellence (ACOE), VA Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), and Product Line Management (PLM) processes. The scope is focused on improving and automating the SDLC and ATO processes for all stakeholders, not performing the individual stakeholder responsibilities. Professional Level Information: The Jr. Information Security Analyst position aligns as an Engineer 1 level at 9th Way Insignia. As an Engineer, 1 your duties may include testing project components, identifying problems and discovering solutions, working on ongoing projects based on specifications or drawings, and collaborating with teams of other engineers. Typically performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm. An Engineer, 1 has strong technical skills and background, a knack for learning new technologies, and a blend of good problem-solving and innovation needed to resolve a wide variety of technical production challenges. Functional Job (LCAT) Information: The Jr. Information Security Analyst will provide VA Authorization Support by performing System Steward responsibilities in support of preparing and maintaining ATO packages and assisting system stakeholder teams, IA process improvement and development teams with testing, implementation and execution supporting automation processes completion of all Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities in the VA’s Governance, Risk and Compliance tool eMASS and further SDLC and Citizen of the Network support in VA Salesforce Ectropy module (as needed). Responsibilities:
Information System registration into VA systems (i.e. eMASS, VIPR, VASI)
Complete system security categorization
Be able to integrate with multiple VA teams and leadership
Develop security control baseline
Understand, validate, and translate vulnerability findings into POA&Ms
POA&M management and remediation
Aid in the documentation of system policies and procedures such as Incident Response, Change Management, Disaster Recovery
Working knowledge of the Federal Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST Security Engineering Standards
Experience using eMASS to test, validate, review controls, report on compliancy, or for FISMA reporting
Experience protecting network devices by determining and documenting access privileges, control structures, and/or resources
Experience with documenting the results of assessments, incorporating mitigation strategies, and reviewing/managing/evaluating Plan of Action and Milestone (POA&M) in the assessment of information system vulnerabilities as impacts the Enterprise network
Experience preparing authorization decision verbiage including recommendations for ATO conditions, limitations, circuits, whitelist, classification, and reporting requirements
Experience analyzing Nessus/ACAS scans, HP Fortify, SCAP scans and manually evaluating STIG checklists to produce reports in support of AO ATO decision

Familiarity with the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) Authority to Operate (ATO) process
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S
Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $61,677 – $77,096.23 *9th Way Insignia’s range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law. Preferred/Desired:
Associates or Bachelors Degree
Familiarity with VA Directive 6500 and VA Knowledge Service
Familiarity with NIST Information Assurance Guidelines and Special Publications, as well as FIPS.
Current VA Clearance is preferred
Familiar with Cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or ServiceNow
Experience working in the FedRAMP cloud environment understanding IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS regarding cloud service provider security control responsibilities and customer responsibilities Clearance, background investigation: Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
