Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Technology Management
- Understand what is currently being delivered / offered to all Qapitol clients, take ownership of all existing solutions viz., test automation frameworks, technology stacks, customised solutions etc. and ensure ongoing projects continue to be supported.
- Create and lead overall development strategy, planning, implementation, integration, testing and on-going operational maintenance of all relevant and reliable technical solutions to meet organisations and its clients’ current and future needs.
- Develop and deliver complex test solutions. You need to oversee architecture & design of technically robust, flexible and scalable test solutions. This should be achieved by setting up overall best technology standards and practices and ensure adoption and adherence.
- Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation, and creativity. You will be handling innovation and responsible for identifying areas of continuous improvement / betterment of our test solutions.
- Responsible for introducing new service offerings / capabilities / test automation frameworks & solutions for e.g., frameworks & solutions to test Blockchain / Big Data / Data Analytics applications).
- Work closely with the Chief Delivery Officer to understand ongoing and future project needs, plan and manage allocation of test architects and solution architects to
- Support project needs to develop and maintain test automation frameworks and any solutions as required to deliver the project to agreed scope and timelines
- Enhance capabilities of existing Qapitol owned test automation framework
- Develop newer frameworks and solutions
- Develop Proof of Concepts and where required, support providing a demo of the POC to potential clients.
- Provide direction for architectural decisions and technology choices including no / low code and relevant infrastructure requirements.
- Responsible to ensure adoption of newer solutions into delivery projects.
- Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape and ensure that our technology is secure, stable and (when appropriate) scalable.
- Cultivate a culture of testing and automation throughout the organisation.
- Represent and advocate for technology internally and to the wider community.
Team and Stakeholder Management
- Roll up sleeves and play a hands-on role while building a world class quality engineering team including defining and managing the team structure for the Engineering function.
- Built and lead multiple teams of up to 50 members comprising primarily of solutions architects, test architects, developers, and Dev Ops engineers.
- Building, developing and coaching organisation’s talented young engineering team and establishing our technology culture.
- Define and communicate roles and responsibilities, KRAs and KPIs for every team member. Create clear career paths for team members and help them grow with regular & deep mentoring.
- Perform regular performance evaluation and share and seek feedback on a regular basis.
- Develop a bench strategy, recruit, and train as per the strategy to ensure capability building as well as mitigate risks of attrition and under performance.
- Resource planning, recruitment, and key talent development.
- Provide project status information to the Management Team and additional stakeholders.
Budget Management
- Develop, track, and control the annual operating and capital budgets for the function.
- Track, analysis and monitor performance metrics.
Marketing, Sales and Pre-sales Support
- Support marketing team by creating technical white papers, blogs and articles that can be used as collateral.
- Conducting webinars (for internal and external audiences) and represent Qapitol QA in technology conferences / seminars etc).
- Organise technology days, bug bashes, hackathons etc. to tell the world about the test solutions developed and offered by Qapitol QA teams and also help attract new talent to the organisation.
- Support sales & pre-sales activities by participating in technical discussions with potential clients, understanding their context and requirements and recommending relevant solutions. Where needed, develop test automation POC to demonstrate our capabilities.
- Manage the documentation of all solutions and good work being done across all clients and share the same with Marketing team for preparation of collateral for use by marketing and sales teams.
Learning & Development Support
- Conduct training sessions on new technology advancements and developments.
- Contribute to key trainings for freshers / test leads / test managers / test and solution architects.
Employee Induction Support
- Be part of employee induction programs; educate new employees about the good work being done by Qapitol and motivate them.
Qualification and Skills
- Previous working experience in a technology leadership role preferably at a product centric organisation.
- Master’s in computer science engineering or similar relevant field.
- Atleast 15 years of total working experience of which atleast 7-8 years should have been in leading and managing a team or teams responsible for development and implementation of solutions and frameworks to develop and / or test web and mobile applications.
- Understand software delivery in a start-up environment balanced with the rigor needed for sustainable and maintainable solutions.
- Experience in a senior leadership position responsible for building, motivating and leading high performing teams (atleast 50+).
- Extensive, demonstrable experience building complex consumer facing digital products and internal facing systems across web and mobile applications in demanding environments. Experience working in Retail, Payments or Fintech environment would be beneficial but not mandatory.
- Experience in software engineering best practices including agile, TDD and BDD, continuous integration and delivery, micro services etc.
- Very strong analytical skills to be able to manage complex problems using several techniques.
- Expert level proficiency in understanding technology landscape encompassing
- programming languages like Java, Python or Javascript
- open-source solutions and frameworks like Selenium, Appium, RESTAssured etc.
- developing and testing web and mobile applications (both Android and iOS)
- understanding of and working with different relational and transactional databases
- data-analytics and related areas of expertise
- CI/CD including dev-ops and usage of Jenkins, Cucumber, Maven or equivalent.
- Should have previous experience in defining and setting a vision along with the plan which needs to be implemented to meet the end goal. Should have evaluated situations, taken accountability for decisions, issues, etc. in the short, medium, and longer-term.
- Strong communication skills of complex and sophisticated ideas to a range of key stakeholders, both verbal and written.
- Experience in managing senior stakeholders internal and external to the organisation.
- Excellent influencing and negotiating skills to align several potentially conflicting views with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability challenging team and individual objectives and trusts people to get on with them, shares clear expectations about required performance levels, rewards success and addresses performance issues quickly and fairly, treats team members with honesty, respect, and compassion.
- Challenges systems, processes, and people to achieve business objectives using an expert knowledge base.
