THE OPPORTUNITY
After a major digital transformation, Ranpak is seeking a Power BI Developer/Data Modeler. Many of its legacy systems have been replaced or upgraded. These upgrades include the implementation of a new cloud-based CRM system, implementation of a new cloud-based ERP system, and the development of a data fabric that will serve as the future platform for performing advanced analytics across the company’s various information sources. The company is now looking to bring on an IT team member who can help drive data analysis and reporting activities via Microsoft Power BI.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Power BI developer collaborates with end-users, stakeholders and technology partners to identify, define and develop self-service analytic solutions, dashboards, data visualizations, and actionable enterprise business intelligence reports based on best practice standards
- Designs and implements a reporting user experience that is consistent and intuitive across environments and reporting methods, and meets security, usability and scalability best practices
- Responsible for repeatable, lean, and maintainable enterprise BI design across organizations
- Effectively partners with the client team. Strong knowledge of Databases, Data models, DSML concepts, DW concepts, ETL, and environment to perform daily tasks is preferred
- Building a detailed understanding of Ranpak data sources
- Building relationships with business leads across the company
- Establishing himself/herself as a go-to internal expert related to Ranpak data and the Power BI environment
- Working with internal and third-party teams (e.g., CRM, ERP, webdev, data fabric) to understand project roadmaps and data availability
- Developing and driving adoption of best practices for building analyses and usage of the Power BI environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computing Science or related Engineering field. Demonstrated continuous learner specifically in the space of Business Intelligence
- 3 years of experience in data modeling and business intelligence
- Strong proficiency and expertise in Power BI including DAX queries and Power Query, Workspace & Gateway

Past work experience should demonstrate expertise in the following areas:
- Producing Power BI reports across a range of business functions including sales, marketing, finance, manufacturing, and distribution
- Developing/maintaining complex Power BI data models and related measures
- Integrating Power BI data models with Azure
- Supporting Power BI “best practices” regarding version control and release management across multiple environments (DEV/QA/PROD)
- Designing and implementing unit/systems test plans
- Experience with SAP and/or other ERP systems
- Experience with Finance/Planning tools
- Experience with Sugar CRM and/or other CRM platforms
- PBI Toolsets knowledge is a must but should also have good knowledge of some of the following: SQL Server Analysis and Reporting Services, SAP DIH/HANA Studio, and Snowflake
- Experience with Azure DB administrative functions is a plus
- Experience with SharePoint file integration with Azure and Power BI is a plus
- Experience in testing support and direction for the UAT and Quality teams
- Successful project planning and track record delivering full lifecycle IT projects (i.e., requirements gathering, data analysis, report design/development, maintenance, and support)
- Strong design sensibilities: ability to develop reports that effectively visualize the data and provide critical insights to the user community
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Attention to detail
