We are looking for an enthusiastic Data Scientist, who loves finding simpler solutions to complex problems. In this role you will be responsible for understanding the true business needs behind complex customer requirements, and design, specify and create data-based relevant solutions. While we will prefer people with airline industry knowledge, the main focus for this position will be to understand business needs, leverage Data Science (or relevant skills) to help create effective solutions. Ultimately, we’re looking for someone with technical savvy, business acumen, airline business knowledge and sophisticated communication skills to create solutions that lead the consistently evolving airline industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify customer needs based on the articulation of business problems
- Analyze business requirements to generate product/service solution recommendations
- Analyze data from disparate sources to generate insights through automated solutions
- Review change requests, figure out the needs within and recommend solutions
- Assist with user acceptance testing to ensure system specifications in line with customer needs
- Collaborate with Product Management and Sales Engineering to respond to RFPs
- Elaborate functional specifications, create acceptance criteria, as needed
- Interface with customer during functional specification, testing and initial implementation phases as necessary.
- Analyze financial performance, define success metrics and create monitoring instrumentation
- Consistently strive to optimize the solutions and processes to achieve desired goals
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- B.S in computer science or Mathematical sciences. A Masters (M.S. or M.B.A) preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of Business Analysis and/or Data Science experience
- Hands on experience with SQL, Machine Learning algorithms using a higher level programming language
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver relevant solutions
- Strong problem-solving and mathematical analysis skills
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Analytical and strategic thinker with strong attention to detail and end-to-end ownership
- Prior experience with airline industry preferred, for a shorter learning curve.
