The data platform engineer will play a key role in the success of our data analytics strategy and directly impact critical internal business processes, ultimately enabling insights for decision makers and senior leaders around the globe. You will be responsible for enhancing the current data platform and directly influencing its evolution. You will work multi-functionally with business domain authorities, DataOps Engineers and engineering teams to architect, enrich and implement our platform framework and data pipelines from an array of source systems. You will collaborate with data owners to set data access standards for the company. Your efforts will directly support the productivity of our Product and Field organizations and our customers’ success, ultimately delivering sustained, rapid growth and enabling the evolution of our operating model.

In addition to using technical platform engineering knowledge to drive features and improvements, the successful candidate must be comfortable with constantly evolving requirements and have good social skills. This role will require both creativity and working collaboratively with IT and the wider Field and Product organizations. Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain our internal tooling build on Streamlit. Currently, we use it for Snowflake Data Access Management. We want to expand our tooling to build an orchestration manager for ELT, build a Data Quality WebApp etc.

  • Build Scripts in Python to run data access on Snowflake.

  • Build abstracted data Pipelines (data pipeline as a product) to ingest data into Snowflake. This will directly support our vision of Data Mesh.

  • Define and advocate the standard methodologies for storing and analyzing data inside Snowflake.

  • Enhance the analytics platform to scale data acquisition, data pipeline and data delivery to citizen data analysts.

  • Implement standard methodologies for extracting, cleaning, transforming, and loading the data into data staging, warehouse, and other system integration projects by analyzing data requirements, complex source data, and our data model

  • Engineer reliable, scalable connections between source applications and data warehouse infrastructure

  • Participate in architecture and code reviews

  • Identify, document and promote standard methodologies. Create or update user documentation for transition to data consumers

  • Support and maintain the analytics tech ecosystem (data warehouse, ETL and BI tools).

  • Handle data administration tasks such as scheduling jobs and fix job errors

What you’ll achieve

  • 3 Months

    • Become comfortable with platform tools and processes by partnering with a member of platform team to ramp up effectively

    • Successfully collaborated with a member of the platform team to support implement a new platform feature.

  • 6 Months

    • Participate in at least one major platform release

    • Work with the analytics team and business functions to deliver more significant, longer-term, or larger-scale projects

  • 9 Months

    • Lead a design and implementation of a feature enhancement in the platform

    • Take operational ownership of services you have delivered to production

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability working as a Data Platform Engineer.

  • 4+ years of Object Oriented Programming experience in Python

  • 4+ years of experience in sophisticated SQL scripting including Stored Procedures.

  • Experience building internal data platform tooling to automate manual processes.

  • Experience with implementing data security and role based access controls in Snowflake

  • Experience supporting data warehouse, developing, scaling and optimizing, performance tuning of ELT pipelines

  • Experience working with ELT tools like Matillion, DBT and orchestration tools like Airflow and Luigi.

  • Deep understanding of relational and big data setup. Ability to work on multiple initiatives at the same time, like Data pipeline ELT, streaming data pipelines, writing sophisticated SQL queries etc.

  • Basic understanding of star schema/Kimball dimensional modeling techniques

  • Basic to intermediate understanding of Regulations like GDPR, CCPA and handling PII data.

  • Experience with ingesting and extracting from Business Intelligence, Marketing, and CRM tools; experience with Tableau and Salesforce a plus

  • Steadfast focus on performance, usability, and security

  • Demonstrable ability to balance difficult trade-offs and navigate between big-picture and implementation details

  • Sound written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work with different technical and business partners across functional field teams to understand and deliver against their data needs

  • Intellectual curiosity, creative problem-solving and time management skills

  • Consistent track record of delivering outstanding high impact projects in dynamic settings
