Position Summary
Design and develop scalable data stores and frameworks with sub-second query latency on highly multidimensional data.
Role and Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable data stores and frameworks with sub-second query latency on highly multidimensional data. Design engineering solutions to aggregate and automate large scale data flows from varying sources. Build real time streaming pipelines that deliver data with measurable quality under the SLA. Effectively communicate ideas to peers and distributed teams. Deliver products with top notch quality in a fast-paced environment. Contribute towards building a system with a test-driven development/agile approach. Collaborate with other team members in breaking down tasks and implementation of the initiatives all the way to release. Work on complex issues where analyzing situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variables. Exercise judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results. Champion best practices for high availability, scalability and reliability of data processing components.
Skills and Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, a related field, or a foreign equivalent, plus 2 years of postbaccalaureate experience in job offered or related. In lieu of a Master’s degree and 2 years of experience, Employer is willing to accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, a related field, or a foreign equivalent, plus 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or related. Applicant must have 2 years of experience (5 years of experience in possession of a relevant Bachelor’s degree) in the following: (1) defining direction and providing specific instruction for engineering projects/programs; (2) data technologies including Airflow, Spark, Python, Sql, Java, and AWS; (3) databases/database technologies including Oracle, Postgres, Cassandra (NoSQL), Vertica or other columnar databases; (4) data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing; and (5) Amazon AWS technologies S3, EMR, and Redshift.
