Position Summary:
Working as part of the Programmer/Data Analyst group, the Data Visualization – Power BI Analyst will be responsible for creating reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics to provide business insight that aid decision-making using Power BI across the enterprise. Uses query languages like SQL, scripting languages like DAX, R or Python and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analysis. Works with Project Managers, Department Leaders, SMEโ€™s and application development teams to understand requirements.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Developing dashboards, visualizations and reports using Power BI to improve business process
  • Curating data sets using SQL that drive data collection models to better consolidate information
  • Builds data models that help improve efficiency throughout the overall financial and business operations BI catalog
  • Performing quality assurance testing to ensure the data presented is correct
  • Identifying the development needs for the purpose of streamlining and improving efficiency and profitability
  • Collaborating with team members at all levels for the purpose of collecting data, documenting requirements, and executing on deliverables
  • Analyzing business requirements and processes to provide recommendations for improvement
  • Perform data profiling to identify anomalies
  • Creating and maintaining documentation that includes design, requirements, and user manuals
  • Learning and understanding the data landscape across multiple databases and applications
  • Coordinate with IT Department to implement new models
  • Create presentations to present analysis findings

  • Develop and manage BI solutions using Power BI
  • SQL object development, performance tuning, data analysis and integration

Job Requirements:Education Required (Minimum level of education):
A bachelorโ€™s degree in computer science, business, economics, information science or related field.

Experience Required (Minimum level of experience):
5+ yearsโ€™ in analytical position preferred.

3+ yearsโ€™ using Power BI preferred (other leading BI applications will be considered).

3+ yearsโ€™ of database design with SQL Server and SQL Language is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of data collection software and protocol.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency โ€“ Advanced Formulas, Pivot Tables & VBA Macro.
  • Ability to structure business discussions and scope solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and forecasting ability.
  • Understand current data protection and privacy laws.
  • Ability to think through problems and provide recommendations to a solution.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects in parallel.
  • Implement row-level security on sensitive data in coordination with application security model.
  • The ability to work both as a team and independently.
  • Excellent Problem solving and analytical skill.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to analyze and mine data from multiple systems.
  • Ability to understand userโ€™s needs and devise solutions accordingly.
  • In-depth knowledge of the data development life cycle.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A track record of following through on commitments.
  • Strong knowledge of T-SQL and DAX to support reports, dashboards, and data models.
