General Accountabilities:
The Business Intelligence (BI) Architect position is responsible for various development, reporting, database maintenance, and system admin-related activities. Primary responsibilities would include developing new and maintaining existing data models within BI tools, developing scalable and maintainable BI applications to meet business objectives, SQL coding for report development and database organization, and working with various business units to gather requirements and develop BI and reporting solutions. Additionally, the Architect may handle backup administrative duties for several BI/Analytics tools, including developer publishing requests, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, server maintenance, etc. The Architect will work with various IT teams, business units, and other analysts as necessary to maintain our BI/analytics applications and reporting solutions.
The Architect needs to be a technical BI resource, as well as the ability to work with business units to understand their activities, priorities, and needs and provide them with the reporting tools and ad-hoc information needed for strategic planning, decision-making, and completing their day-to-day activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with BI Administrators, Developers, Analysts, and Business Users to successfully develop BI reporting and analysis solutions
- Create and support data models optimized for BI analytic tools such as Qlik Sense
- Create reports using Qlik Sense, AnalyticsGate, SQL Server, and Excel
- Work with the primary Qlik/Alteryx admin to maintain each application and support each application’s developer, user, and system needs
- Maintain, execute, and modify existing BI and/or Excel reports
- Address customer queries and issues promptly using various tools, such as Qlik and/or by writing SQL code to query data directly
- Provide expertise and guidance regarding appropriate interpretations of data
- Identify and help resolve data issues
- Validate all work to ensure accuracy
- Support other information management projects, including database maintenance, data analysis, mining, and optimization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
- Computer certifications and/or on-the-job experience may be considered in place of a degree
- Minimum of one year of experience working with data visualization tools such as Qlikview/QlikSense, Tableau, and/or other data visualization-oriented BI tools
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Understanding report development, data modeling, data mining, and analysis
- Experience using spreadsheets and database tools (Excel, MS SQL Server, Oracle)
- Programming experience, including T-SQL, PL-SQL, and/or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), is preferred
- Experience with AnalyticsGate is a plus
- Keen attention to detail – absolute commitment to accuracy is required
- Achievement oriented – focused on getting work done quickly and efficiently
- Strong technical/analytical capability with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with presentation skills
- Ability to promptly handle a variety of multiple tasks
- Strong business acumen and existing knowledge of the financial services industry preferred
