The Role
The new SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that will support Shell’s business & assets around the world.
The vision of SEAM is to provide capability across the spectrum of Safety, Environment and Asset Management with:
- shaping the future ways of working through introducing to the business new technology and news way of working, including e.g. digital, SBO, and real-time, data-driven, end-to-end optimization and risk management, but also global programmes like Human Performance Based Safety Philosophy.
- providing performance feedback driving disciplined execution to deliver reliable, predictable results
- helping the businesses build their improvement plans and provide support to execute them
- sustaining performance through strong core capabilities (internal, including SBO & contingent) through building expertise and a company-wide consistent approach
The VP TAO will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAO provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.
Falkor is a project that will set up Engineering capabilities within TAO with as purpose to deliver the engineering of site-led projects portfolio (typically small projects), thereby replacing the EPC contractor services.
Purpose & Accountabilities
- Preparing, optimizing, updating and maintaining the schedule to efficiently execute the Falkor projects including resource optimization, checking for completeness of activities together with the project engineer. It also covers breaking down scope into bite-size activities with logical sequence for each discipline; assigning discipline resources and durations together with the project engineer; initial entry into the scheduling tool (i.e. MS Project, Primavera P6, etc.) and establish logical sequence of tasks and resources to minimize possible cause of lost time during work execution.
- Actively manage the integrated Falkor schedule, updating actual progress against plan, conducting performance analysis, activity resources and duration estimates and understanding task interdependencies. Provide recommendations for mitigation in managing deviations against schedule based on scheduling insights.

To deliver robust & effective planning & scheduling for execution of Falkor projects including the following:
- Gathering deliverables, activities, and manhours estimates with detailed information for planning and execution;
- Data entry / import of detail activity plans and estimates into scheduling tool (i.e. MS Project, Primavera 6, Excel).
- Develops and Implements Scheduling Premise document
- Development and understanding of critical path, near critical path, and resource leveling
- Sufficient quality and detailed reports for leadership and stakeholders
- Management of Change: Liaise with TAO and asset interfaces in handling technical and non-technical changes; Monitor and inform relevant parties on potential deviations from schedule
- Assurance: Provide data support to health checks, audits and benchmarking activties
- Project Performance KPIs: Monitor and track Project KPIs together with project engineers. Promote project performance improvement based on the KPI’s.
Business Dimensions
- Initial pilot will involve 2 assets in the Chemicals & Products organization
- Each pilot project team will be composed of several discipline engineers (i.e. electrical & instrumentation, process control, process engineering, civil, rotating equipment, mechanical static, materials & corrosion, inspection, construction, project management, data systems/visualization/drafters, etc.)

- Being able to effectively deliver this project engineering pilot virtually, and considering that most, if not all, of the discipline engineers will be coming in new
- Being able to effectively collaborate virtually, across time zones
- New work processes and Ways of Working, and a largely new team
- Undertake special assignments or tasks as directed by the Project Excellence lead
- Effective initiative to identify and help resolve business and technical issues within areas of responsibility.
- Exposes the individual to all cultural backgrounds and organizational levels across the globe
Skills & Requirements
- Engineering Degree and/or Certification as a Project Planning Engineer or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a scheduling position (Maintenance or Shutdown) in the Oil & Gas industry (operating refinery or petrochemicals plants preferred), or minimum 2 years experience as capital projects scheduler in oil and gas
- Working experience in a downstream environment or in an EPC is preferred
- Experience in Planning and Scheduling Tools (i.e. MS Project or Primavera 6). Skilled in development and understanding of Critical Path and Near Critical Path Jobs including schedule risk analysis and resource levelling.
- Working knowledge of a broad range of Project Controls systems, tools, and practices specifically in Oil & Gas industry.
- Self-propelled individuals with a critical mind and communication savvy
- Excellent English communication (verbal and written)
- Good organization, documentation, and follow-up
- Strong time management skills
- Demonstrated capacity of delivering results
- Flexible and adaptable to change, with track record of demonstrating initiative, analytical capabilities and problem solving.
- Be well versed in virtual working, and using IT tools effectively to overcome the barriers due to cultural and physical distance.
- Fully versed with MS Office suite of software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
