The Role
Within RDS the business-critical Report One application is used to collect, consolidate and report on the performance of the entire Shell Group. The data is used for management information reports and the financial reporting, both for internal as external use. E.g. the RDS annual report is based on the data delivered by Report One. Errors or delays in processing can incur significant impact on Shell’s shareholder value and reputation.
Report One is supported by GF SOM Finance & Analytics (From Q2-2021 Finance, Data and Reporting).The Report One application is built on top of SAP BFC, SAP BW and SAP BPC. Report One contains also several custom written applications based on .NET and relies heavily on Microsoft SQL Server, Citrix and Oracle.Power BI services and Azure will be added to the technology stack.
The “IT Operations Engineer – Report One” is responsible for safeguarding the smooth operation of the Report One application and the foundational platforms it depends on. As such senior level all-round IT knowledge is required to be successful in this role.
The job manages operational activities related to processes in the operations management part of the IT delivery such as configuration, change, patch, incident and problem management and capacity & service monitoring.
Delivery of small enhancements on the R1 custom applications and developments task in a DevOps fashion are part of the role. Another important part is the ability to assist our vendors and stakeholders in incident resolution.
Working in a 16×5 shift and during certain periods 24×7 shift with on-call outside service hours is part of the job.
Accountabilities
- Keep Report One running secure and reliable by performing, identifying or coordinating changes, patching and housekeeping activities.
- Maintain the R1 PowerBI based process dashboards.
- Automate operational and control execution related tasks where possible.
- Maintain the relationship with the teams responsible for the IT systems used by Report One, especially the data sources.
- Ensure operational documentation is kept up to date.
- Comply with Shell and external legislation (e.g. SOX)
- Participate in project transition to support activities. (DevOps)
Requirements
Mandatory
- All round IT knowledge, understanding of IT design principles, database management, IT infrastructure and (application) security.
- At least 4 years of experience in an IT application support or development role.
- Good stakeholder management and ability to work in complex relationship between Shell, business, suppliers and infrastructure partners.
- Team player, works effectively and communicates well with all levels of organization (business and IT).
- Ability to assess & handle critical situations.
- Familiar with the ITIL foundation
- Strong problem analysis and trouble-shooting skills.
- Learning attitude.
- Ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision, completion of concurrent tasks with appropriate priority.
Preferred:
- Familiar with one or more SAP solutions, like NetWeaver, BPC, BFC, DS & FIM.
- Familiar with one or more Microsoft solutions, like Azure, PowerBI, SQL server, IIS, ASP.NET C# and Active Directory.
- Experience with system administration, defining technical policies, installing and upgrading servers and database administration.
- Ability to deal with conflict and ambiguity effectively.
- Highly responsive, good customer-facing, interpersonal and communications skills.
- Able to work in a cross-functional, multi-application, multi-service providers environment.
