Job Location: Bangalore/Bengaluru
The Role
- The primary focus of this role is on building robust, sustainable enterprise data environments based on Azure Data platform.
- The role is responsible to ensure end-to-end service availability and resolve escalated urgent/complex issues to ensure business continuity for Shell’s Azure applications.
- Provide second and third line operational IT Support for Azure applications. This includes ticket resolutions.
- Proactively monitor service outcomes to initiate service improvements and recommendations for remediation.
- Manage the implementation of changes taking the portfolio architecture into account.
Accountabilities
- Handle complex severity incidents according to Business Service Level Agreement (SLA). Resolve escalated multi-discipline technical application and infrastructure incidents end to end per business SLA.
- Work with Project team to assess project deliveries for addressing any supportability issues.
- Understand how projects enable the implementation of Shell’s Azure capabilities to accurately assess technical issues and recommend solutions that are supportable and consistent with the overall strategy.
- Advise on impact of technical exceptions, including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc. Ensure that there is proper technical assessment of all such exceptions.
- Cooperate with support and project management teams on technical feasibility and considerations
- Work with support team and project management teams to prepare detailed technical plans, evaluate test results and to ensure supportable solution is being deployed by the projects.
- Ensure adherence to Shell security and compliance framework, information security and regulatory audit compliance. All relevant compliance strategies, policies, standards, processes, procedures and best practices are applied, executed and monitored correctly.
- Give advice on the technical aspects of configuration management methods, system security requirements, the operations and maintenance of systems being supported and proposed system recovery procedures.
- Understand Azure and other related technical and functional modules/products defects and possible workarounds.
- Understand Shell’s Azure landscape and architecture across multiple support vendors. Provide integrated support based on your architectural understanding by coordinating with different vendors to solve high-priority incidents.
- Provide resolution during problem management reviews to ensure complex problems are being resolved appropriately.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Dimensions and Special Challenges
- The Azure specialist are challenging roles within the organization. The success of this role is highly dependent on the relationships built with Delivery vertical (DV) communities to ensure successful landscape service performance.
- As a Specialist must be able to interact with senior stakeholders in the Business Interface Organization, being able to translate complex technical issues into simple business opportunity and challenges in support of decision making.
Mandatory Skills:
- 6 – 8 years of Corporate IT Experience.
- Minimum Education or Certification: 4-year Degree related to IT
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Service and good knowledge in Azure architectures, operations and implementations.
- Should have good working knowledge of Azure Data Platform like Azure Data Lake, Blob storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Bricks, Azure SQL and SQL Database.
- In-depth knowledge about setup of ADL’S for handling large volume of data with any format, various Azure based storage solutions, integration, limitations and appropriate usage of those in right business scenarios.
- Hands on experience and implementation knowledge of creating pipelines, activities, scheduling and monitoring the ADF.
- Good to have hand on experience on C#, JSON or any scripting language supported in Azure.
- Having good knowledge on Azure Dev Ops will be an advantage.
- In depth knowledge of the Azure computing platform, its many services and dimensions of scalability
- Well understanding of Azure service licensing, pricing models and should be able to relate to bring that understanding in the context of Shell’s business use cases.
- From Azure platform perspective, candidate should have experience to understand various performance overhead, SLA attributes and relevant best practices.
- Solid awareness, understanding about various security challenges and related best practices on Azure platform.
- Experience working with information risk management controls and ITIL processes.
- Experience with remote product administration, maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades.
- Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work with teams from different cultures and in different time zones in a global, virtual environment.
- Attention to details, with critical mind set to ensure services are run effectively and in compliance with controls and SLA, ensuring mitigation of risks and impact on business activities.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong understanding of Azure features and capabilities.
- Experience with working in Agile projects.
- Having used the Azure portal with full functionality on various components of Azure.
- In depth knowledge of the Azure computing platform, its many services and dimensions of scalability including but not limited to: Azure Storage, Azure SQL, ADLS, ADF, Azure data bricks.
