The Role
The new SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that will support Shell’s business & assets around the world.
The vision of SEAM is to provide capability across the spectrum of Safety, Environment and Asset Management with:
shaping the future ways of working through introducing to the business new technology and news way of working, including e.g. digital, SBO, and real-time, data-driven, end-to-end optimization and risk management, but also global programmes like Human Performance Based Safety Philosophy.

The Process data engineer will be part of the VP TAO organization
The VP TAO will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAO) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAO provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.
Job Purpose
Data reporting and analysis. Produce reports/dashboards/insights for helping the operating units to check compliance on their business adoptive measures and improve the data quality. Working with the senior stake holders to understand the different dimensions of Quality and Systems Engineering data that can be analyzed and present in easy to understand format.
Automation of existing reports using new tools. Acquire business knowledge and operational skills on activities at the Upstream, Downstream & Integrated Gas operating units (OUs) of Shell to build the same in reporting.
Principal Accountabilities: –
- Data analytics and reporting using new tools like Spotfire/PowerBi and develop/ automate new reports/ dashboards.
- Work with central team and global stake holders to find different dimensions of data and produce the analysis, reports & insights accordingly.
- Support a Data improvement project which may include data cleanse, data mining, benchmarking, reporting projects.
- Interpret and present data from different data sources in an easy to understand way and build new insights from data.
- Engagement with the Site stakeholders such as Requestors and Approvers to communicate plans, obtain feedback, and solicit improvements.
- Assist the managers to standardize processes, tools, methods, procedures as directed (Ex: Improving the data quality standards and best practices).
- Learn new tools like Maximo/Spotfire/ R-tool SQL coding etc. for data analysis.
Key Challenges: –
- Knowledge on generating reports detailed insights from the data.
- Confidence to work in virtual environment and managing engagement across different levels of stakeholders. Includes strong proficiency in using English for both spoken and written communication, as well as using Office Communicator, Instant Messaging, Video Conferencing, Outlook, etc.
- Shift work following operating hours of the upstream operation units, manufacturing site, chemical plant, supply chain and distribution location across the globe.
- Sound understanding of business/process workflow and having mature mindset to deal and behave under tough/challenging situations.
- A self-starter leader and reliable deliverer, with very good verbal and written skills in English, able to negotiate with senior or difficult people, and able to resist undue influence that might otherwise compromise integrity of data quality.
- Exposes the individual to all cultural backgrounds and organizational levels across the globe, across diverse time-zones.
- Although the role mostly involves the remote support to the upstream operating units/sites. However, the candidate should be willing to travel to various operating units/sites across the globe as per requirements.
Mandatory Education/Experience
- University Degree in Mechanical/ Industrial/ Production/ Instrumentation/Electrical/ Chemical Engineering/ any other degree with 2-4 years of experience.
- Effective communication skill and stakeholder management is a necessary skill for the job.
- Experience in content management using SharePoint / Document or equivalent tools is an added advantage.
- Knowledge/Proficiency in various data analytics tools like Spotfire/Power-Bi, Python, R-Tool etc., is added advantage
- Strong willingness to design, experiment and implement simpler and effective workflow.
- Strong communication & people skills.
- Ability to deal with uncertainty or with limited data.
- Ability to produce visual reports / dashboards.
- Good understanding of Data & Document classifications.
- Good knowledge in managing the Website management
- Keen learner and self-starter, ready to learn in shared learning environment and from on-the-job peer learning.
