The IT Business Analyst for Planning/ Materials Management (MM) is responsible for developing strong working relationships with users of Smithfield’s ERP and integrated systems. They will function as the Supply Chain Planning and Business Management end users’ partner for technical and business process issues and coordinate enterprise solutions for the SAP ECC system and other related systems.
The primary focus of the IT Business Analyst is to bridge the gap between business users and technical resources. This role is responsible for understanding business requirements and translating requirements to functional specifications, testing, and implementation. By leveraging experience, leadership, and project management skills as well as an understanding of cross-functional relationships, the IT Business Analyst will help deliver process improvement and technology solutions supporting our enterprise architecture.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development and identification of SAP system needs supporting Supply and Demand Planning and Business Management teams.
- Works closely with Order to Cash, Logistics, Finance and other business analysts on cross-functional enhancements and projects
- Be the business team’s liaison and voice with IT regarding implementations, system enhancements and upgrades.
- Develop detailed business requirements specifications to outline and define requested enhancements and/or changes to systems. These business requirements will serve as the basis for technical
specifications.
- Utilizes project management skills to ensure work streams are properly identified and prioritized, resources are allocated and fully utilized and timelines and budgets are met.
- Reviews current Planning and Materials Management business processes to determine where automation / improvements will drive efficiency.
- Identify opportunities and support the development of new sustainable best practice approaches while providing subject matter expertise in the Materials Management functional areas.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Experience in SAP ECC 6.0 Materials Management in either a business analyst role or higher preferred
- Solid understanding of Supply Chain planning processes and principles preferred
- Functional knowledge of EDI, IDOCS, SAP Customer and Material Master data preferred
- Above average expertise with Microsoft Office Suite required
- Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Must be able to travel 20% of the time, dependent on various projects
- Ability to work well with others in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
