Job Description
Working within Smiths BIS helping to drive the adoption of a centralized standard of analytics solutions across Smiths Group and its divisions. Working as a resolver group and part of Smiths BIS – designing innovative Analytics solutions as part of the “Data Analytical Team”. Roll out business solutions that enable Smiths to achieve the ‘minimum capability’ vision set by the Director of Applications and Analytics. Help to build and maintain operating models that optimize onshore and offshore resourcing to create the maximum value for Smiths Group. (known internally as Strategic Managed Services). Support the Smiths Excellence Systems KPIs for data entry and key business visualizations.
Duties & Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for designing and building the data pipeline for Smiths Group.
- Lead and maintain the ingestion framework processes of data.
- Optimize the ingestion and processing of data within the data platform.
- Apply security and governance around the ingestion of data as well as modelling ensuing data preparations is fit for purpose and always protected
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy solutions to Public Cloud desirable.
- Also design and implementation of applications’ build, release, deployment, and configuration activities.
The Individual
What you’ll definitely need:
- University Degree
- Technical experience and knowledge in On-Premise and Public Cloud Data Services focused on: Database architecture, ETL, Data Mining, Business Intelligence, Big Data, Data Governance.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure a plus: Azure SQL Database, Analysis Services, Databricks, Data Lake, Logic Apps and Data Factory.
- Understanding of Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
- Familiarity with infrastructure considerations for data and system integration.
- Analytical thinking and strong communication skills
- Ability to work with business owners to ensures analytics solutions meet business requirements.
- A good understanding of data Security and privacy technologies.
- Experience in working with offshore and onshore support model.
- Experience in working with Machine Learning and AI
- Experience in BI tools (PowerBI, Tableau, QlickView etc.)
- ERP experience and implementations (nice to have)
- Strong Written and verbal communication skills.
