Job Description
The Data Lead in Smiths Group will work proactively with internal and key business partners contributing to the delivery of analytic models and visualizations through projects and BAU, exploring new analytics and dashboard tools and, where appropriate, advice on new solutions that can improve the effectiveness of the organization.
This role is suitable for Hybrid working with an expectation that you will be based at least 2 times per week in our office in Bangalore, India.
Duties & Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
- Manage and evolve the company’s data reporting process, support senior management in developing and achieving the organization’s strategic plan as well as the development and delivery of the reporting and analysis capability including dashboards, BI, and analytical tools.
- Oversee the development and use of data systems, driving the adoption of a centralized standard of analytics solutions across Smiths Group and its divisions, actively promoting the D&A(Data Analytical) team and their capabilities.
- Solutioning innovative ways to organize, store and analyse data with attention to security and confidentiality promoting the capability of the “Data Analytical Team”
- Provide leadership on the implementation of security & authorisation best practices for accessing analytic data sets within Azure.
- Help to a solution, implement, and maintain operating models that optimise onshore and offshore resourcing to create the maximum value for Smiths Group
- Manage and distribute workloads to the D&A team members, balancing the key strengths of the D&A team along with career aspirations, providing direction and day-to-day oversight, and striving to deliver outstanding results. Take a leading role in the growth of the Team and support the development of D&A and Divisional team members through coaching and mentoring.
- Create a Roadmap that delivers the vision and embeds data management capabilities to ensure master/reference data, data quality management, data cataloguing, data governance, and traceability are established and governed as a foundational pillar, ensuring the use of trusted high-quality data across D&A and all divisions.
- Support the creation of Data Analytic Models and Data Visualisations (eg PowerBI) within the Azure platform
- Manage PowerBI Licenses, Gateways and Microsoft visual studio installed in Smiths
The Individual
What you’ll definitely need:
- Educated to a degree level in mathematical science or similar discipline, or an amalgamation of experience, training and education.
- Demonstrable experience of good interpersonal and relationship-building skills, to ensure effective project management.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Solid understanding of data processes, including data structures, data modelling and software architecture.
- Previous experience in creating and leading the roadmap for different projects in data management.
- Familiar with the main IT platforms (SAP, Power BI, Azure, ..).
