Job Description: Job Summary
This role within Reliability Team will drive a culture of safety, efficiency, and innovation by identifying statistical trends within aircraft mechanical performance metrics to improve reliability. The Sr. Technical Analyst will apply specialized knowledge and analytical skills to complete a wide range of tasks, that are typically quantitatively/data focused. These improvements will support company goals including maintaining low costs, modernizing the operation, and improving aircraft reliability providing a competitive advantage for Southwest Airlines. To effectively accomplish these goals, this individual will partner with other Operational Departments throughout the company and communicate these initiatives to varying levels of audiences.
Responsibilities
Perform and assist others in timely data collection, validation and root cause analysis on data elements required by the Reliability and ETOPS Programs to identify deficiencies and modernize the aircraft maintenance program
Develop and enhance Reliability reports as required by the FAA approved Reliability and ETOPS Programs
Provide in depth data that will allow teams to estimate feasibility, costs, time, and resources needed to implement recommendations for improving Tech Ops impact on Southwest Airlines operations
Compose and communicate results from highly complex data and analysis for both technical and non-technical customers and leaders
Investigate critical ad-hoc inquiries resulting from emerging maintenance issues and provide analytical reporting to allow Senior Leadership to make business decisions while balancing existing project workload
Present insights, trends, and possible recommendations by using visual elements supporting the relevant points of the analysis in order to ease Stakeholder understanding
Develop and distribute specialized queries to pull and organize data from various sources, establishing the cadence, and validating the necessity of the data requirements
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of complex business problems and ability to help to translate business outcomes into data needs
Seasoned knowledge of technology platforms and architectures applicable to developing and maintaining self-service reports and dashboards
Seasoned knowledge of data analysis and quantitative modeling techniques used to investigate business questions
Skilled in integrating, storing, and processing large amounts of data necessary for analysis and modeling
Skilled ability to navigate appropriate FAA regulations including AC 120-17B Maintenance Control by Reliability Methods, AC 120-16G Air Carrier Maintenance Programs, 14 CFR 121.373 Continuing Analysis and Surveillance, 14 CFR 121.374 (h) Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program for two engine ETOPS and FAA Inspector’s Handbook 8900.1
Ability to synthesize new data sources from raw data for analysis and develop intermediate visuals to support the analysis
Ability to understand the problem, to summarize and perform root cause analysis on data of specialized scope and provide recommendations using logic and reasoning
Ability to actively listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing, verbally, or presentations delivered to various levels of audience including senior leaders
Ability to lead the gathering of requirements and collaborate across cross functional work groups Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
Extracting, transforming, and visualizing data
Root cause analysis and problem solving
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
