Job Location: Miami, FL
Core Infrastructure’s goal is to provide world-class cloud-native infrastructure to Spotify’s engineers. As a data engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with teams of skilled Engineers, Data Scientists, User Researchers, and Product Managers to instrument and collect data about our backend infrastructure ecosystem. This data will help us understand and measure the impact of engineering investments and drive product decisions to unlock and improve Spotify’s developer productivity.
Who You Are
- You have 5+ years proven professional experience in data engineering.
- Work with high-volume heterogeneous data, preferably with distributed systems such as Hadoop, Bigtable, and Cassandra.
- Are knowledgeable about data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques are able to leverage these skills to make architectural decisions based on product opportunities.
- Know how to write distributed, high-volume services in Java or Scala.
- Have a deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
- You care about agile software processes and iterative delivery, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation.
- Understand the value of collaboration within teams.
- You are passionate about working with product teams to promote better outcomes for our climate and our planet.
- You are a communicative person who values building positive relationships with co-workers and partner teams, and enjoys mentoring and teaching others.
What You’ll Do
- Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks like Scalding, Scio, Storm, Spark, and the Google Cloud Platform.
- Use best practices in continuous integration and delivery.
- Help drive optimization, testing, and tooling to improve data quality.
- Collaborate with other Product Managers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers and stakeholders, taking learning and leadership opportunities that will arise every single day.
- Work in multi-functional agile teams to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new product objectives.

- Working hours. We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration and ask that all be located in that time zone.
