Job Summary
Join our mission-driven team in Environmental Health at the Minnesota Department of Health. As part of the Well Management Section, you will help protect and improve drinking water and groundwater resources by ensuring safe well and boring construction. The Business Coordinator will lead the effective and efficient delivery of business functions and serve as project manager for advanced organizational and legislative work.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating, developing, and implementing policies and procedures for fiscal, procurement, records management, and other administrative business functions.
- Serving as the legislative coordinator for Well Management in collaboration with the Department’s Office of Legislative Relations and others.
- Developing, maintaining, and reporting program data used for key performance indicators.
- Managing business systems projects including planning, testing, training, and implementation of applications and technologies.
- Conducting special projects as assigned.
This position will have the option for partial telework; however, it will be based on the business needs of the unit and is at supervisory discretion.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of advanced-level professional analysis experience in the following work activities:
- Experience leading organization-wide operational planning efforts and/or establishing process timelines and deliverables.
- Experience with project management and facilitation skills.
- Experience with leading or providing work direction to a team
A degree in public health, government administration, data management, business administration or closely related field will substitute for advanced professional public health experience, as follows:
Master’s degree = 18 month of experience
Bachelor’s degree = 12 months of experience
Associates degree = 6 months of experience
Minimum qualifications to be assessed in the interview:

Ability to prepare and update policy and procedures

Ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners

Strong teamwork skills, including willingness and ability to consult with subject experts from operational teams within the organization

Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the Minnesota Administrative Procedure Act

Knowledge of Minnesota Government Data Practices Act

Knowledge of records management principles
Physical Requirements
Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer
