As the Data Management/Governance Analyst, you will contribute to the execution of global Data Management Strategy initiatives which will help drive cultural as well as practical change in our approach to- and management of- data. This role contributes to the fundamental understanding of how State Street uses data and assists our partners in achieving their goals. Working within the Enterprise Data Governance and Management ( EDGM ) team will allow you to see how we are transforming our bank while also gaining experience in Policy Implementation.
You will provide hands-on support to Business Units, Data Stewards, Analysts on establishing a sustainable enterprise capability to ensure high levels of engagement across those business units and corporate functions who actively provide or consume specific data sets.
R esponsibilities:
- Contribute to the implementation of Data Management Strategy for the enterprise via all aspects of metadata management, Data Lineage, Data Quality, Data stewardship tools and platforms.
- Execute on Data Taxonomy initiative that includes building of robust Business Glossary for the enterprise.
- Assist in implementing Data Governance and Management practices as it relates to data models, data domains, data taxonomy with a deep appreciation for data standards and data quality.
- Ensure that all data assets which are subject to the governance processes within the organization are addressed. Support the development and maintenance of an end to end data lifecycle management approach.
- Contribute to the scoping and defining of tasks needed to be executed to achieve defined level of Data Governance and Management.
- Monitoring data quality process, identifying data quality issue patterns, applying remediation plans, implementation of data controls, and manage data quality remediation strategies within Data Governance Platform.
- Maintain Program documentation and update operating procedures as necessary.
- Gather and prioritize list of Data Management and Governance reporting requirements.
- Assist in testing of BI reporting development process for accurate measurement of business unit governance progress.
- Ensure Business Unit Policy Compliance through the Monitoring of Established Data Lineage and Metrics Progress.
Job Requirements
- Working experience and in-depth understanding of metadata management and lineage.
- Deep knowledge of business glossary and data dictionaries in the global capital markets.
- Prior business experience with data focus and expertise in managing/monitoring business domain data.
- Working Experience on Data Governance tools like IBM IGC, Collibra etc., is preferred.
- Ability to understand Data Governance policy and framework, data models, Lineage, Data Taxonomy, and Data Quality Industry best practices.
- Proficiency in writing SQL queries, Visualization/Business Intelligence tools ( i.e. Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI )
- Strong understanding of Enterprise Data Management concepts, principles and practices including data models, database structures, Enterprise Data Catalogs, and Operational Data Quality.
- Proven ability to assess and evaluate processes and perform root cause analysis leading to resolution of data quality issues.
- Ability to interact with Data Stewards of varying levels of seniority While communicating clearly and concisely.
- Ability to write and maintain Data Governance operating procedures and documentation.
- Prior business analysis and operations role with focus on data analysis skillset and transferable Data Governance knowledge.
- 7+ years of Technology, Business, Data Governance and management experience.
