About the Role:
The reporting and analytics team at Sterling is responsible for the centralized data platform to deliver insights to our internal and external clients. In this role, you will define the strategy, vision, and the roadmap for creating a compelling reporting and analytics platform for Sterling. As a Business Analyst, you must have a passion for data analytics and share our enthusiasm for turning data into our most powerful asset for our organization. You will work closely with internal clients to understand reporting needs across the organization to determine what self-service analytics needs to be built, and what data is needed to build it, by working closely with stakeholders and requesters.
This Is What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with product management, product development, product marketing, customer success, operations, analysts, and customers to deeply understand, document, analyze, and synthesize user needs into product priorities and detailed specifications.
- Collaborate with partners, technology, engineering, and design teams to ship new, impactful features, including preparing necessary technical specifications, coordinating development activity, and tracking progress of in-flight projects.
- Work closely with sales, marketing, and partners to drive customer adoption by building solid documentation, conducting workshops and training sessions
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data, and convert it into actionable insights
- Advise and guide senior leadership on opportunities and how to win and align with the strategy and roadmap of the larger company.
This Is What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of experience in a business analyst role
- Experience in design and implementation of data visualizations with any of the industry leading tools like Looker (preferred), Thoughtspot, Tableau, etc.
- Strong understanding and experience working with SQL and ETL projects (extract, transform and load).
- Experience in an Agile or Scrum development team
- Good communication and presentation skills in a cross-functional environment
- Deep empathy for users, especially balancing the needs of different user groups
- Demonstrated track record of partnering with engineers to scope projects, overcome obstacles, and ship products that matter
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in a highly collaborative environment
- Excellent formal and informal written and verbal communication skill
- Deep curiosity about data and skill gathering, analyzing and applying data to inform decisions. Willingness to move ahead when data is not available.
- Skilled at maintaining good humor and focus on solving problems no matter what
