Role Summary/Purpose:
The Information Security Analyst will play a key role in safeguarding the organizations systems, networks, and data. The position is responsible for aiding in the design and build of Information Security capabilities, participate in the management of these capabilities, and supporting technology. In addition, this role will be responsible for acting as a trusted resource for other analysts in the organization.
This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Essential Responsibilities:
- Play a hands-on role in the engineering and implementation of security measures that protect the computer systems, networks and information
- Aid in disaster recovery planning and operations and data backups when needed
- Provide day-to-day administration and support for infrastructure related to firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection systems, vulnerability scanning, security monitoring tools, penetration testing, authentication, web filtering, identity management, or access control systems, and their associated logs and processes
- Participate in providing or reviewing documentation to ensure a well-managed and mature security infrastructure
- Work independently in identifying opportunities to improve operational or other performance for Information Security, Information Technology and other functions across Synchrony
- Serve as a mentor or subject-matter expert to other team members in the Information Security organization
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with minimum of 3 years of experience in Technology in lieu of degree, 5 years of experience in Technology
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in information security.

Desired Characteristics:
- Good understanding of information security landscape as a whole
- Experience in modern coding languages such as Python
- Creativity and individual thinking, and the ability to work both with a team and unsupervised
- Strong and efficient problem-solving and analytical skills, willingness to learn
- Understanding of public cloud platforms from an infrastructure and development aspect
- Ability to successfully manage working on multiple simultaneous projects
- Familiarity with problem and incident management, change management, notifications, and basic operational understanding of running and maintaining infrastructure
- Good teamwork, oral and written communication
