Lead Biometrics Data Scientist

Job responsibilities
- Formulate a coordinated analytical approach to mine data sources, employ statistical methods, machine learning & deep learning algorithms to discover actionable insights, and automate the process for reducing effort and time for repeated use.
- Independently works on complex data deliverable projects & objectives; confidently assesses the level of data, time and effort required and proposes approaches for solutions.
- Develops functional data solutions as needed. May liaise with the data asset representatives directly to inform and provide solutions.
- Use database query tools and statistical, analytical, and visualization software to extract, manipulate, analyze, interpret, and visualize data trends and patterns and uncover insights.
- Perform data mining to discover non-obvious relationships, build training data, implement and retrain ML solutions. Build and optimize classifiers using machine learning techniques
- Prepare business presentations, impactful visualization of ML results, and contextual storytelling to translate findings back to internal stakeholders and clients with a clear impact. Articulate solutions/recommendations to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Develop automation for repeatedly refreshing analysis and generating insights
- Independently identify research articles and reproduce/apply the methodology to support innovation. Research and develop statistical learning models for data. Implement new statistical or other mathematical methodologies as needed for specific models or analysis
- Collaborate with globally dispersed internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to produce innovative solutions
- Manage multiple tasks and works with allied team members; plans proactively, anticipates, and actively manages change, sets stakeholder expectations as required.
- Assist in hiring of new associates for data science roles.
Other Responsibilities:
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Minimal travel may be required (less than 5%)
What we’re looking for
- Master’s degree in applied mathematics, Mathematical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Related Field and 5 to 7 years of proven experience in Data Science
- Extensive experience required in Statistical and Machine Learning techniques including but not limited to Regression (esp., GLM, non-linear, etc.), Classification (CART, RF, SVM, GBM, etc.) Clustering, Design of Experiments, Exploratory Data Analysis, Statistical Inference, Feature Engineering, Time Series Forecasting, Text Mining, and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
- Crafting and deploying ML modeling and prediction pipelines.
- Deep Learning techniques on structured and unstructured data, Recommender Systems (content and collaborative filtering), etc.
- Advanced knowledge of Python, R, or SAS.
- Strong coding skills with the ability to write high-performance code in R or Python; exposure to PySpark, Tensorflow. If mainly uses R, still needs working knowledge of Python.
- Proficient with SQL. Exposure to DataIku and UI interface tools like R-Shiny, Streamlit, etc. desirable. Exposure to AWS and ML Pipelines on cloud desirable.

- Must be flexible around travel and work hours if a business need should arise. Minimal Travel < 5%
