Join Takeda as a Data Scientist in within the Advanced Analytical Technologies function, where you will support and lead activities related to designing, building, and deploying industry-leading smart algorithms and predictive models from various analytical data including spectroscopy. You will also be recognized as a technical expert within your own department and across division for mathematical modeling and data science in support of Digital CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) capability development. Willingness and enthusiasm to work in an exciting and challenging field is a must. The ability to work independently and/or within a team environment is essential. An innovative mindset is necessary to both solve problems and develop, lead, and manage initiatives to bring greater efficiency to the department.
How you will contribute:
This Data Scientist position is a scientific role, hired for in a fast-paced cross-functional multidisciplinary team within Analytical Development function, focusing on data analysis and modeling for advanced processing/process analytical technologies for process monitoring, and control. Responsibilities of this position include, and are not limited to, model generation using PAT methodologies and related activities to support self-optimizing platforms. This role will be working closely with a dedicated cross-functional team comprises process development and product development functions as well as other internal and external partners for the implementation of advanced and process analytical technology (PAT) for next generation process development. Responsibilities will also include managing or supporting various targeted innovation and development projects ensuring timely delivery of results. This position will also evaluate existing and emerging on-line techniques that may replace existing off-line technologies, that would otherwise be used for calibration, to provide rapid analysis and shortened decision cycles for process development.
Your Opportunities:
- Ability to work independently with chemometrics tools (Unscrambler, Matlab, PLS Toolbox or SIMCA) to develop chemometric and predictive models using spectroscopy derived data for real time in-process control is essential.
- Collaborate closely with analytical and process development colleagues, where the source data come from (understanding of process development and analytical technologies is essential). Work with multifunctional teams of scientists, engineers, and IT specialists.
- Large volume data curation, understanding of data systems, tools and architectures, developing best practices for data collection and storage as well as data modeling processes (e.g. chemometrics, statistics)
- Knowledge in data management to work with R&D IT colleagues. Data engineering knowledge is preferred – for agile and stable digital data workflow for our global organization.
- Designs and independently performs studies to troubleshoot issues encountered during development work and assists in investigations for issues encountered in manufacturing Identify and automate data collection, preprocessing of structured/un-structured data
- Present analytical information using data visualization techniques, automate semi-complex human interpretation of analytical data and propose digital solution for business problems. Presents issues and results at department and project team meetings. Presents at external meetings or publishes in peer-reviewed journals
- Stays current on emerging technological trends and external communities & consortia related to data science, data engineering, computational process development, systems biology, and advanced process control.
Your Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Data Science, Statistics, Bio-Informatics, Mathematics, Chemometrics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related pharmaceutical science and 6+ years relevant industry experience
- Masters degree in Data Science, Statistics, Bio-Informatics, Mathematics, Chemometrics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related pharmaceutical science 4+ years relevant industry experience
- PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Bio-Informatics, Mathematics, Chemometrics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related pharmaceutical science and 2+ years relevant industry experience
- Hands-on experience with chemometrics tools is a must have (Unscrambler, Matlab, PLS Toolbox, SIMCA) Independent working style, fast learner and team player
- Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team environment is required
- Understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) is preferred
- Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is preferred

Motivated employees must be remunerated appropriately. The minimum salary for this important and responsible position is € 4.751,92 gross per month (full time, collective wage agreement for the chemical industry). The actual remuneration package will be guided by your professional experience and your qualifications, so increased payment is possible.
